  • Great tongs
Had some trees cut down in the backyard and the tree cutters used the larger 12" tongs and picked up large chucks of wood. Not wanting to ever lift something that big I opted for the 8" version. With just a little practice (minutes) you can get the hang of engaging and disengaging a piece of wood one handed, just like the pros. By the way the 8" one will grip larger than 8" logs, I was able to attach it to a 12+ inch log and lift it. Wouldn't want to do it very often, but in those small number of times you need to lift a larger piece of wood. The tongs are plated nickle/chrome ??? so exposure to the elements shouldn't be a problem and the plastic grips are comfortable too. You don't have to bend over as much as compared to hand lifting. You don't have to worry about little creatures (bugs/snakes) jumping on you either. Your hands remain clean too!!! I would buy again. ... show more

  • These timber tongs are a great size for splitting firewood
These timber tongs are a great size for splitting firewood, and handling small diameter logs. I have a set of the larger size as well, and like them both. After trying a pair of timber tuff log tongs, I would highly recommend going with the higher quality brand. These are well designed, and more ergonomic, and as long as you dont lose them in the woods somewhere, should last for a very long time. One thing to consider would be a holster, which i am not sure if husqvarna makes, but would make it really convenient when you are splitting firewood with and axe. ... show more

  • Makes the job easier
This tool is a great back saver because I don't have to bend over so far to pick up the wood. Also keeps me clean and my gloves dry so my hands don't get cold from wet gloves. The first day or so was a little awkward to use but I kept using it until I got used to it. Now I love using them. I should have bought them years ago. ( I have 2 of them in 8") They don't grip split wood quite as well because of the lack of bark and the shape of the wood. Takes a little more practice. Now I need to get me a couple of the 12" tongs. for the bigger stuff. John S. ... show more

  • excellent product
I got these as a gift for my parents after using a friend's set. These are wonderful and prevent bending to lift larger logs to move them around or put them in a fire box/heater unit. Lightweight, easy to store, very easy to use and durable. I highly recommend these for anyone from homeowners with fireplaces to people who work with larger quantities of wood to move it for storage or use (as we do). ... show more

  • Great tool - Thanks Husqvarna !
Very pleased. Debated about getting the 12" size but quickly realized that my 75 year old body has no business trying to lift anything bigger than what the 8" can bite! The 8" is more than adequate. It is a real back and hand saver and I highly recommend it.

  • Five Stars
They work well, we only do 45 face cords a year and anything that makes it easier helps.

  • A real backsaver
These tongs make all the difference. Takes a person out of the log wrestling arena and into a grab 'um and stack 'um mode that is a great energy saver.
