October 2018 -- The 1TB hd in this unit is a Seagate Barracuda that has gone south on me after only 8 months. I haven't opened it up but I believe it's an older model Seagate that's known for failing. First it disappeared from Explorer. The Device Manager Events tab said it had 'failed to migrate' which I think has something to do with the drivers and Windows 10, and Disk Management showed it as unallocated with a capacity of 3.86 GB. When I tried to initialize it there, it threw another error. I tried a firmware update using Seagate's own tool and now the drive isn't even visible in BIOS. Bad head likely, a known issue with Seagate. btw, the SSD is a Toshiba and seems stable. I'm deducting another star for the lack of info. Sure, I should have asked before buying. But the details should also be in plain view. ======================= I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant about this purchase, but I’m happy to report that the computer arrived well packaged, set up easily, and seems to be running fine. Windows 10 needed activating and that went without a hitch. But there’s no doubt this is a refurbished machine; the included power cable was labeled “monitor” and was stuck awkwardly in the fan grill (I thought it was plugged into the machine until I got it out of the box), and there are small imperfections to the case. Also, I received a French/English keyboard which threw me when I went looking for special characters as they weren’t where I expected. It works fine, just be aware that you might get one. Seller ought to note this. LibreOffice was already installed. I was going to download OpenOffice but I find I like its cousin LibreOffice better, so I don’t mind that the computer shipped with it. With just a little polish this seller could be offering a 5-Star service. Still I’m quite happy. I’ll return to update my review if needed. ... show more

  • May require some technical know-how to get running
While this computer is a good deal for the price, I do not believe they are rigorously tested from the factory as the seller likes to describe. Issues: -Windows 10 would not activate: Windows would not activate with the given product key during setup or after setup. It would throw an error every single time I entered the key; and I am certain it was the correct key. I called their customer support, and the tech suggested a restart. Simple enough, but I had tried this already. He then recommended I wait a few days to see if it worked later. This did not solve the issue, and being the weekend, I ended up simply reinstalling Windows. For some reason, the hard drive was configured to boot on Legacy instead of UEFI. I had to reconfigure the boot from MBR to GPT to partition the disk. However, after this the key worked perfectly during the reinstall. -Broken keyboard: Ctrl key was missing, and back of keyboard was cracked. -Broken computer access door: Required prodding the interior mechanism through the back grate to get it open. Huge pain for something that should realistically take less than 15 seconds. 15 seconds ballooned into a 10 minute ordeal. The pros of this computer are: -It has an SSD at a reasonable price point to comparable standard HDD systems. ... show more

  • Great basic browsing pc...
Works great for my needs. My old desktop was out of hdd space and was old. This was a good price, and everything worked out of the box, no issues. Faster performance and way more storage than my previous computer. Keep in mind, I basically just web browse and check email and use office programs, so it's great for me...for people who want a high-end pc or gaming unit, this isn't for you...but for my needs it's perfect! Keyboard and mouse were cheap and I didn't use them, but it's nice they were included. ... show more

  • Two days in and working fine...
So far so good....two days in. This unit is in perfect condition. First thing even before plugging it in I opened it up and It was clean as a whistle. Exterior looks like a brand new unit … not so much as a finger print on it. No scratches, bangs or dents. I am not a computer type so I can't say about the performance (speed, memory, etc.) but it seem a lot faster then my older IBM with XP which is no longer useable. Setup was both fast and easy; no problems with the windows 10 …. however, again I am not a computer guy so if there are issues later I'll come back and add to the review. I did call with a question about the software and I found their service person be to very polite, pleasant and responsive. Not normally a fan of buying refurbished electronics but this Blair Tech Group seems to really have a handle on it. Yes, I would recommend the Blair Group. ... show more

  • Info on how to access parts of this refurbished computer.
I bought this and didn't need it right away. But then I was scammed and my old computer bit the dust. I like this one although Windows 10 and I aren't friends. lol. Lately though I've found I can't find a DVD player that works on it and there is a E Drive that I can't access. Any help would be appreciated. 8/16/18 - Now I've love wifi capability. Nothing works to bring it back up. ... show more

  • Like New, Rock Solid Work-Horse Office/Home Computer
Would've Given 5 Stars, Except for the fact the at initial login a Trojan popped up, Embedded in 3rd Party Driver Update Software, which came preinstalled. However, Windows Defender immediately caught it and quarantined it. Otherwise, the item looked Brand Spanking New Inside and Out. Opened it up upon delivery and looked like it came directly from the manufacturers clean-room. (See Pics) Two Fans...Both Spotless. Everything, spotless. Booted up within 4 Seconds with the zippy SSD. ZERO issues or concerns after several days, but time will tell. We had these same towers in the USAF and they're absolutely reliable work horses. As with any third hand device I do recommend Multipass/Overwrite Drive Wiping and Reimaging the OS. You never know what was on it before and you don't want the FBI Forensics team kicking your door down. I have it hooked up to my 65" 4K TV via a Display port to HDMI Cable and the picture is Amazing. (Cables are like $6 on Amazon) Will update as time passes. Very impressed thus far. ... show more
