  • EZ method to add remote ID compliance to a UAV!
This product is well designed, simple to configure, cost effective, and easy to use so that a non-compliant UAV can meet the remote ID requirements of the FAA and other entities. The module is small, light, well powered (5 hour run time) and broadcasts data reliably. It is a life extension for older but still serviceable UAV's to meet regulatory requirements. ... show more

  • It Simply Works
After procrastinating for months and almost giving up on flying my drone as a hobby, I finally broke down and decided to comply with the new Remote ID law. This module won my choice as the most affordable and easy to use device on the market. I was pleased with how easy it was to register it with the FAA and install it on my DJI Mini. It adds one more step to the takeoff checklist, but its battery life is 5 hours so it will only need charging occasionally. And I have not noticed any penalty in flight performance or time. ... show more

  • As Described For HS600
This external add-on RID module was purchased for use with an older Holy Stone HS600 drone that did not have built-in RID. It was easy to set up and works just fine.

  • Least expensive self contained way to comply with the absurd rule.
Let me start by saying that I do NOT believe for one second that the remote ID rule will make any airspace more safe. On the contrary, it will just give Karens and criminals really good tools to harm law abiding drone pilots. I am a law abiding person by nature so I am complying with the FAA regulation, grudgingly. This Holy Stone RID module is the least expensive, self contained (has internal battery), smallest, lightest module that I've found that is FAA certified compliant. I saved about $18 by using the affiliate link in a YouTube video by Alien Drones (Thank you Keith). This module is relatively small and light when compared to others I was considering. It came with very easy to understand instructions and set up was quite quick and easy in both the Holy Stone app and the FAA Drone Zone site. I tested it using a drone scanner app and it seems to be working just fine. I like that I can easily move it from one aircraft to another and have found that affixing the module to my flight battery using Velcro is very convenient and gives the unit an unobstructed view of the sky from a flat surface. I did use high quality, name brand Velcro rather than the stuff that comes with the unit and I did clean both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol before sticking the Velcro to the unit and drone battery. The unit seems very secure. In my experience, the unit does charge up in about 90 minutes and operates for about five hours on a charge but I have found it convenient to just charge the unit along with my camera batteries and flight batteries and radio batteries etc after each flight. It easily falls into my charging routine lol. I am confident that I am now fully compliant with the absurd FAA rule and now just have to keep an eye out for neighborhood Karens and of course criminals who might be able see my position and my aircraft's position using any number of free drone tracking apps grrr. Happy flying amigos! ... show more

  • Great and the least expensive option for Remote ID
I'm sure most people like me are frustrated with manufacturers (like DJI) that won't provide firmware for expensive drones to comply with this new law. That being said, I needed a solution and didn't want to pay over $200 just to comply. After checking that this RID module is on the approved FAA list I thought I'd give it a try and wasn't hopeful on quality, etc. but why not. I got the remote ID unit last night and couldn't be more pleased. Setup was fairly simple after downloading the app from the app store. Once I put in the serial number, etc. and restarted the RID unit, I performed a bench test leaving it outside and it started broadcasting and immediately appeared in the Drone Scanner app. There might be a quirk in the firmware as the drone model I put in flashes in and out but that might be me. As far as I'm concerned, seems compliant to me. Will have to find a good place to mount it on the Phantom 4 without interfering with other internals like the transceiver or built-in GPS. My only concern long term is the internal battery might not be replaceable but at this price point, I'm okay with that. As long as Holy Stone is blinking, I'm flying. Well done! ... show more

  • Does what is supposed to do
Nothing wrong with this RID. Small, easy to use. Doesn't have a long range broadcast but who wants to broadcast long range anyways. As long as it is FAA compliant and let's me fly, all good.

  • I'm delighted with this RID unit!
I was on a waiting list for two other, more expensive, RID units for a month or more when Amazon recommended this one by Holy Stone. It's easy to set up with a Bluetooth phone, worked for me the first time, and has showed up on OpenDroneID, AirSentinel, and DropneScanner on my smartphone. A recreational flyer can use one of these for all the drones in their fleet that need RID. A commercial flyer needs on RID for each drone. It's very light weight, something like 12 grams, and attaches with velcro. My Air2 and now my Mavic 2s are 'native' RID compliant. I'll use these Holy Stone RID units for my Typhoons and Inspires that are not RID compliant. The only problem I had was that one of the QR Codes in the printed material led to the wrong website to download the Android app to configure the unit. I used Holy Stone's Chat feature on their website to contact them. A very helpful tech answered quickly and advised me to use the one on-line, which I did. This whole experience helps convince me that Holy Stone is better than the ordinary 'toy drone' manufacturer... ... show more
