  • Saved my dog's life
Flavor Name: Chicken & Vegetable Entree
I have a 14 year old golden retriever who has had chronic diarrhea and is an extremely picky eater. We tried probiotics, rice / chicken, an all natural diet (carrots, sweet potato, chicken, rice, pumpkin, etc), various kibble, various canned food, antibiotics... Nothing worked. NOTHING. My dog either would refuse to eat or get very runny stool when she did. Finally I bought some of this because I thought "can't make it any worse", but OMG. Not only does my dog eat it (amazing by itself!) But it has completely, 100% stopped her diarrhea. She finally is going normally again after seemingly months of problems. This is a complete reversal of her eating behavior and stools. I can't believe it. ... show more

  • Highly recommend for people struggling with their dogs weight and skin/stomach
Flavor Name: Tender Turkey & Rice Stew
I worked in the veterinary field for 12 years and worked closely with Hills as a pet food company. When I adopted my own dog 2 years ago, we quickly noticed skin rashes and bumps, itchiness, and general discomfort. She was on Apoquel for a few separate short courses, but since the allergies seemed to be seasonal, I decided to switch her food. This food has worked great, she hasn't had any major skin issues since being on this food exclusively and I'm very happy. I give her the Hills Sensitive Skin & Stomach dry food, also the wet food with dinner, along with fish oil, glucosamine, carrots, rice, and green beans (she eats like a queen) but her weight has also been a struggle since she's pitbull/bulldog so we're trying to manage both the weight and the skin! I do highly recommend it, despite it being fairly expensive. It will be less expensive than higher-end "gourmet" style pet foods but of course, always get your vet's opinion and figure out what type of allergies your pet has before listening to any reviews! I can tell you from personal experience that the vets I worked with did not ever recommend something they didn't believe in, it was not about cost or profit. Because if their recommendations didn't work, the pet would be back and uncomfortable again. ... show more

  • You should add some water to this!!! Dog's stomachs can get trouble
Flavor Name: Salmon & Vegetable
This food is a semi solid slurry that performs best IF YOU ADD WATER. I don't think it's really very safe to give them much of this without adding water. Dogs stomachs can get trouble if their food is the gulping down kind if its dry like this, their stomachs can contort like colic in a horse. Dont know what it's called but sometimes surgery can save them. Otherwise... anyway if you add water that makes it more economical anyway , especially if your dog is a bit overweight like mine. ... show more

  • Great for my Chinese Crested
Flavor Name: Salmon & Vegetable
My Chinese Crested, as any pet Mom of a Chinese Crested will know, is allergic to nearly everything. Even some of the other foods he wouldn't throw up would still irritate his stomach after enough months and he'd have to go to vet to get relief. This was a back and forth struggle for seven years with him until I found this food. I noticed, after feeding him this food for a few months, that his skin started looking much better! As people with this breed know, they can get little bumps on their skin that don't bother them, but are simply a little unpleasant to look at. Well, I noticed that he had fewer of these bumps on his skin as he stayed on this food, and that's an unexpected benefit I'm very happy about! I mix this 50/50 with the hard food version of the same flavor so my little guy's stools aren't too soft (which can and has caused anal gland infections in dogs!), and we've been doing this for three months with great results. He can be a picky eater, but I plan to keep him on this diet for as long as possible because it actually works for his incredibly sensitive digestive system. He's a happy pup and I'm a happy pup Mom! ... show more

  • Now Grain Free; it's a problem
Flavor Name: Salmon & Vegetable
My dog liked eating this food and it agreed with him and also led to less itching and chewing of feet and skin. The Amazon deliveries were convenient and reliable. Unfortunately, I have to give the product only three stars now. The formula is now grain free. Citing recent evidence that grain free diets have recently been correlated with a dangerous heart condition in dogs, our vet recommended moving the dog into a more traditional dog food that does include a grain. Because they don't know if it the lack of grain -- or an additive in the grain free foods -- that might be the cause of this medical condition, it wasn't enough to simply add some rice or other grain to this dog food. SO, we've had to change it up. ... show more

  • Some cans in every case are bad, or at least to funky to feed my dog.
Flavor Name: Salmon & Vegetable
I order a months worth of Hills at a time. While it is usually fine I have had to throw away about four cans per case due to drying out or spoilage. I expect more from Hills and Amazon. Each case also contains dented cans, though this does not seem to be indicative of the cans contents being bad. Hills should be able to provide a consistent product. Notice the dark food with the large hole leading into the can. My guess is that all the fat which serves to keep the food moist has dissolved or evaporated ( don't know how that happens in a sealed can) or it was never added. The inconsistency in the two cans is obvious though the lighter food is what I want for my dog. I will not feed him the dry darker colored. ... show more

  • Give it a chance
Flavor Name: Salmon & Vegetable
My dogs loves this brand and this food. He’s older and has a sensitive tummy so our vet recommended that we switch to this. We get the salmon flavor which is good for his coat. I mix it with the same dry food brand for crunchiness cause he loves it and it keeps his teeth strong with the soft food and he goes crazy over breakfast and dinner time. BUT I have to buy this so much it’s almost annoying and the automatic deliveries were a rip off. By the time we ran out, the next one wouldn’t come in on time so we’d have to buy another pack anyways so we just cancelled the subscription. You’re better off just buying it over and over and over.....and over again. But as long as my boy is happy I’ll do it. ... show more
