Using the amp in 2ohm on a kicker L5 an works great.dosent get hot. Draws decent amps tho. I've run these amps on plenty of friends cars an my own. There decent for the money. This is in my daddy mobile an will get down if I want it to!

I installed this amp on 2 Skar Audio 8" Subwoofers with 1400W total and 700W RMS. Because this amp is 1 Ohm and my setup is 1 Ohm I only need to turn this up about 1/3 for the gain. I most always buy a bigger amp then needed so I can keep it going for longer periods of time. If you don't have your amp tuned by a professional just make sure that when using the low level inputs from a line out converter or aftermarket head unit, that you set the outputs to 5VAC. This keeps the amp happy and is the most it can take from an input. Anything higher will cause the amp to get unnecessarily hot and you'll just have wasted energy and the amp will likely go into protect mode. I also have this amp cooled with a fan. When using a fan to cool your amp you need to make sure that the amp is elevated by using some nylon spacers. This ensure the airflow actually passes around the amp and not just hitting the side, which will cause the fan to be useless for the most part. You'll need to install a relay and fuse for the fan as well or you will burn up the fan within a month or two. One other thing to note is the set screws from the 4AWG power and ground... They broke when tightening them so you'll need to get some heavier duty ones from your local hardware store. ... show more

As to the product company first: hifonics, hands down, one of the best by far. This amp puts out power non stop. Gets hot and don’t quit. It is also very smart. If your set up is a little off adjustment like on the boost level, the bass knob will light up red and no more sound will emit, but a minor adjustment to it, restart your car, and your back in business. This feature is there to not allow an overload and protect both your amplifier and speakers which you work so hard to pay for and own. On the negative side is only for the company in which I purchased from. It has in the past been a very good company to get my equipment from, but I recently had to return something and even though it was undamaged and unopened, they charged me a huge restocking fee. :( even though it said no hassle returns on the ad, maybe it has something to do with this messed up virus crap idaknow, not a deal breaker to order from them again, but I will make sure that any purchase I make from them in the future that I am “all in” from the git. I ended up returning this app immediately because of several reasons. First off I believe this amp is overrated power-wise. I had it running at 2ohm going to 2 Skar Audio 10inch DVC subs and it did not produce the power that it claims. It did not produce strong bass. Not only that this amp would go into protect mode randomly and often even at low volume which caused it to shut off. I ended up replacing it with an Orion XTR1500.1Dz which is the equivalent and power rating from the manufacturer. The Orion amplifier definitely feels like it is producing true raw power and low frequencies. Another words don't waste your money on the HiFonics and spend a little more and get a high quality brand that is known for real certified power such as an Orion, Rockford Fosgate, or maybe even a Kicker. ... show more

I have 1 sub wired @ 4ohm's and according to specs should be pushing about 450 RMS. Goes into protect mode only with half level and gain. I can't imagine it pushing 1800rms @ 1 ohm and being able to handle. Other than this 1 major problem it works good. Using recommended 4 gauge wire also. But it sounds super clean and the price is perfect. ... show more
