I have been using inexpensive 2 stage wine openers from Trader Joe's and others for years. I find them easy to use and really like them. A couple months ago I misplaced the Trader Joe's opener and had to use a freebie one stage wine opener- what a pain. Then while traveling I bought another cheap one stage wine opener from Walmart and it was even worse- the metal prongs actually bent after a couple bottles making it impossible to get the cork out. Long story short, I wanted to go for quality so I bought this and it is easy to see and feel the difference. I am very happy with the purchase. It not only feels better in my hand, it works better. It is so easy to open even a tough bottle. The knife cuts through the foil easily- I think I underappreciated that feature in the past- and the cork screw really slides in a lot better. I bought a couple other inexpensive, not cheap, corkscrews to have for camping* and backup, but this is definitely going to be the one I use the most. * I do have multi-purpose / swiss army knives that have a corkscrew for camping and I can use them, but they are difficult to use some bottles and when drinking wine I prefer to be relaxed when opening the wine :) ... show more
