I chose this dog bed for my teething puppy because I figured that if she did shred it, there was less filling for her to swallow than with most of the other options. Also the quilting goes all the way through so that she would only get one section at a time. In the end I can't speak to the durability because she has made no attempt to chew it up. She just rearranges it into a smaller pillow, a blanket fort, or a Jedi robe on any given night. :) It's about as padded as a bathroom memory foam rug.
