  • This is a genuine Herm Sprenger made in Germany
Size: 3 mm x 18" (Pack of 1)
This particular item is the 3.0mm Herm Sprenger sold by & shipped by Amazon I have an old (25 years) Herm Sprenger collar in a smaller size. I ordered this one which is 3.0mm. After reading all these complaints about it being a fake & made in China I was anxious to see if it was true. Guess what, it is NOT true. Yes, there is a paper tag pasted on there saying it's made in Germany but if you actually look at the link (where you connect the leash) stamped INTO the metal it says "Germany". There are also 2 other metal pieces between prongs that has stamped INTO the metal (SPRENGER). This is the real deal! The original one I have is a smaller collar & lighter gauge metal. The one that I received from Amazon is a very sturdy collar & very good quality. The collar, when used properly, is very effective for training & helping keep your dog under control & it will not hurt your dog. Yes, it does cause a little discomfort when you give the leash a little snap or pull but it does not dig into the dogs skin, discolor it or cause any pain. AGAIN, this is if you use ir correctly & NOT leave it on the dog when you are not out walking with your dog. I've tried a variety of collars & harnesses for training dogs...such as chokers (I hate these because they can really do harm to the dog), gentle leader collar (even when used right most dogs hate it & it's not very effective), gentle leader harness (works the same as the collar but dogs don't mind it as much but it is not an effective tool for controlling a dog who pulls, regular harness is good but not an effective training tool to teach dogs not to pull. The prong collar is very effective to teach dogs how to walk calmly on the leash by your side rather than lunging or pulling. All it takes is a gentle snap of the leash when they start to pull & they will immediately pull back. You do not need to pull hard & you should not. Use the lightest pull that gets the dogs attention. Reward good behavior & it won't take long for your dog to "get it" & start walking calmly on the leash. Overall a great product, good quality & an authentic Herm Sprenger. ... show more

  • Effective training/bonding tool; Making my second purchase.
Size: 2.25 mm x 14"(Pack of 1)
I purchased this not too long ago when my Labrador Retriever puppy who was just over 40 lbs and 3 months old. At the time when I first received it. I had to remove two links for it to fit properly. It was a good fit and because it is the smaller gauge it did not slide down so much on his neck. I had a previous foster dog where I was given the larger gauge, but it kept slipping toward the base of his neck (which is not where it should be positioned) due to its weight. I prefer this gauge over the larger one and I find they both work the same but without the slipping. The problem is if you have a rapidly growing puppy be prepared to have him/her in between sizes (links) and of course having to add an additional link about 1 week and half later. My Labrador is now 5 months old and weighing in at 65 lbs. This one prong collar no longer fits him with all links on it. However, I am a happy camper with this product and simply repurchasing this same additional prong collar so that I can connect as many additional links as he continues to grow. (Buying the extra links package is a waste of money as they only provide about 3/4 extra links, just buy the extra collar.) This collar is extremely effective in correcting his need to pull, he does not yelp or seem bothered by it. Proper usage has ensured that he is mindful of me and that I am controlling our walks. Without this collar and being a happy-go-lucky Labrador he will incessantly pull towards every human and animal he sees to say hi (regardless of treats in my hand). In turn, this causes a stressful situation where I am trying to peacefully enjoy our walks and outings, and yet I find myself more than 70% of the time trying to get him to submit to me, which ends up just being plain stressful and not fun for me or him. I am a 5.'6" 130lb female, and he is almost half my weight and only 5 months, this collar has helped us bond better because it continually redirects his attention towards me. I initially felt bad about using this but I've placed the prong collar around my own neck and husband's arm, we both find that with little effort the pressure is annoying but it doesn't hurt, of course if I were a dog and trying to pull away then yes, the collar will pinch, but that should make the dog back off of pulling real quick. The collar itself is marked with the signature herm sprenger engraving on the rings, the prong tips are rounded off, and made of solid stainless steel. The collar feels high quality. ... show more

  • Outstanding tool for training, when used properly!!!
Size: 2.25 mm x 14"(Pack of 1)
. The other pinch collar has vanished. This replacement pinch collar is much better made and designed than other collars on the market. It WILL QUICKLY train a Head Strong dog (aka Min-Pin or Bullmastiff)) to behave while on a leash. However..., the owner must be very careful of the powerful nature of the pinch collar. The collar will give the owner AND dog a much more pleasurable walking experience, WHEN used properly. No more CONSTANT PULLING, LESS LIKELY to bolt off in persuit of other animals and over all manageability of your dog. Eventually you will be able to switch to a NORMAL COLLAR...., but that will take time, pacients and proper training. Do NOT ALLOW children the handle your dog with this collar ON..., unless of course the child has the proper training and skill level to do so with adult supervision. Make No Mistake this collar is a powerful tool for training only. Used improperly the collar can do more harm than good. I trained my Bullmastiff with a collar very similar to this one. Within a matter of a week of daily training and Voice Control..., I could easily take her for a walk on nothing more than a THREAD..., for a leash. At that point..., I had full Verbal Control over her (I wouldn't try that trick just ANYWHERE, I might add!-). She is prone to suddenly forgetting ALL training in a moment and do as she pleases (that can be a very bad situation, that I would NOT allow to happen, thus constantly exercising due diligence is a MUST). Regardless, this collar is the best of the best. You can certainly spend more on similar products, but why? This collar works quite well, is very well designed and sturdy enough for the most difficult breeds. ... show more
