Let me preface this review with stating I rarely write reviews — something has to be really good or bad for me to take the time to do so. While I can only speak to how it’s holding up a day after assembly, and not long term, I absolutely love it. BOOK DISPLAY — I forewent a sling back bookshelf because I read reviews that they didn’t display small board books well — these do, as the shelves are low enough for even small books to peak through. Additionally, I read the shelves of the sling back bookshelves tilt the books forward and aren’t straight — since the shelves here are compressed wood, the books remain upright for the most part. ASSEMBLY — I am less than 100 pounds and am not known for my construction prowess, and I consider assembly here pretty easy; I finished in about an hour. The parts were well labeled, and the instructions were clear. While I can see why some reviewers said they used a second person, it’s absolutely not necessary, and if I could do it myself, so could you. CAPACITY — I currently have over 50 books in there consisting of mainly board books, some very thin paperback kids books, and there is room for more. STRUCTURE — It’s sturdy, hefty, and didn’t tip when my 15 month old briefly tried to climb it (I stopped her immediately). LOOKS — Some parts of the paint aren’t as thoroughly white, but it’s not super noticeable. The surface can be knicked/scratched, but overall, it’s a good looking piece that we’re currently using to block our kiddo’s access to our fireplace. TL;DR — so far, very happy with the purchase, as it looks great, holds a lot of books, is sturdy, and is easy to assemble. ... show more

I gave it 3/5 stars. There are 2 big issues for me: 1. As other reviews stated, the instructions are awful. It took my husband forever to put it together. He did get there! But it took a long time and a lot frustration. At least I could warn him because of other reviews. 2. The drawer on the left had the predrilled holes in the wrong spot so now my drawer pushes in too far & doesn't pull out far enough. My husband said he can fix it eventually but it's going to take some time. So that's a bummer. Overall, I am happy with it. It's cute, it holds our kids bedroom books, toys, and those drawers will come in handy. After multiple reviews complaining about the instructions, I hope the company listens! ... show more

We keep having issues that the shelf bottoms keep falling out. Going to try gorilla glue or similar to prevent it in the future.
