  • my perfect handheld
I've had my Win4 for a couple days now.. and i consider it my perfect handheld.. I wanted a machine like the steamdeck, but one of the windows ones (so that i could install any software im used to running on my main comptuer or laptop). What made the biggest difference for me between this and others was the built in keyboard.. So onto usablility. The optical trackpad on the right side seems like a strange idea but it works, you can even click down on it directly this makes it easy to use the mouse function when the handlehd is in gamming mode (small switch on the left side) where you cant use the shoulder buttons as right and left clicks (you can do that in Mouse mode - other setting of that switch) its a very well thought out function. The keyboard has been great durring set up as i can just type out names of folders i need to add, type into search or the web browser.. Im not sure id want to do extensive writing on it, but it serves in the moment for the myriad small tasks you end up wanting a keyboard for.. ESPECIALLY ALT TAB when you want to adjust settings or check on something else internally while gamming.. the two USB C ports are infact I think sufficient. You can charge on one, and use the other for a larger screen or those cool screen glasses that are becomming popular (i have the X-Rreal airs myself) The back buttons (on the grips) are akwardly placed for my hands (i have very fingers and medium size hands otherwise) but they are bonus buttons, and the main ones you're used to from any controler are quite comfortable. the SD card slot is a nice way to add some extra stroage or to transfer files from another computer. I use it as a media drive loaded with music and movies, and just use my home network file shareing for any transfers.. log in to the machine is simple with the fingerprint sensor on the left side.. the fan can spin up a fair bit, but i havnt found it too be too much as long as there is any other sound to over power it, and the sound is much stronger then I expected, so that was a nice bonus.. as for heat, i havnt felt it much in the grips or the exaust but i do feel it sometimes on the edge of the screen but over all id say thermal management is pretty good.. All told do your own research, decide what features you want to make a handled serve your needs.. For me I am very happy with my Win4 ... show more

Dead pixel and poor performing battery. Not worth it

  • Fantastic leetil computer! Is smol.
This is one of the most interesting devices I've ever picked up. It's the size of a thick handheld gaming device, yet it is capable of laptop level performance and battery life. The screen is great and the built in keyboard is fantastic for what it is. Comes in clutch when you need it. I just wish it had 4 USB-C ports. That's the only thing holding it back. ... show more

  • This one is a keeper with some caviats
Note: GPD Win4 2025 is out. 2 month experience and final review: On my 1st unit - Got a Lemon - Factory Quallity Control Issue bad bubbles on inner center of the screen, returned it got a refund On my 2nd unit - screen protective film after 1 month and started bubbling on the edges, i let it lay down flat for a few days, it appears to be gone. I had a blast over the xmas holiday: * I spend over 120hrs so far, had a blast with Diablo IV * I spend over 60hrs so far with PPSSPP emulation Cons: * Occasional buggy hardware on startup - complete shutdown and power on fixes the issue. * You will need to be windows OS tech savvy on factory reinstall - it happened to me just one time. * At this time i can only comment that reinstalling WIndows 11 OS can only be done via their FIRMWARE image versions. Windows 11 ISO fresh install from microsoft direct download seems to be not compatible? ... show more

  • One Powerful Gaming console
I've had a Steam Deck and a Legion Go but to me the GPD Win 4 with the Ryzen 7 8840u is the best handheld console I've had so far. The form factor and portability of the Win 4 was the initial reason for my purchase but now it goes beyond just being able to take it with me. Battery life is between the Steam Deck and the Legion Go in my experience. My Legion Go would usually be drained from playing Project Zomboid within an hour, with the Win 4 I've been getting at least 3 hours or more on just the battery with Auto TDP settings. The screen quality is good but not great. It gets the job done when playing Fallout 76 or the original pc version of GTA San Andreas. PS2 emulation looks really good at 720p. All in all, I've been pretty impressed with this machine and I am looking forward to seeing what's next from GPD. (I was not compensated for my review) ... show more

  • I returned it...
I installed MS office, Steam, and the Xbox app. Some games would run great COD MW3, some would crash GTA V and cause the system to reboot... Sometimes the audio would crackle. Trust me I wanted to love this thing. It was what I thought perfect in everyway if it would have worked better. I didn't like that it had some strange software installed. Nefarious or something it was called. I have built and installed PC and OS in the past many times. Something was strange with this device. I would def recommend a format and fresh install. The comfort something I also wanted to like very bad but unfortunately this thing when compared to say the lenovo legion go is very uncomfortable to use after a short period of time. Also trying to game on this screen vs the legion go was unpleasant. I lost money on the return because of the ancillary purchases I made to fit this device. Memory cards, and battery pack, case etc... I watched every youtube video I could find, and not one really indicated this type of experience. Luckily Amazon has a good return policy. Maybe in the future the drivers will get better....maybe that and a good skin that gives it some better ergonomics. 1400 is too much to pay for something that has crackling sound and iffy performance depending on the game. ... show more
