Worked as expected, and no issues with Drive. Was up and running again the day the drive arrived. Luckily the box had the special screw driver needed to open the Wii. (Really needed this one) The box I got was missing the Phillips head screwdriver(shown in item picture), so had to pick one up. Guessing it was missed during packaging, so a little disappointed I had to get one. Since I was in a rush to get it working again, I did not try to get the screwdriver shipped separately, or return the drive for a box that included both screwdrivers. ... show more

This thing saved me from trashing the whole Unit. I thought it was done. But the cd drive was a good price and it was easy to install. Been playing all my old wii games with no issues ever since

    • The Wii can now play both Wii and GameCube games
I was a little concerned whether or not this could play GameCube games on the Wii. I've only done a little testing so far, but this allowed my Wii to play both normal Wii and GameCube games without issue. Very happy about that! Installation is a little tricky because of the small slack of cables in the Wii, but straightforward if you follow a process and document (with pictures and an ice cube tray for screws) as you dissemble and reassemble. ... show more

    • Reads Wii Games but not Gamecube
The replacement was a success. However, this drive will only read wii disc and not Gamecube disc. The original in the wii could read both, but at least I can play wii games again.

Good quality drive. Functions as intended. The drive comes in a package that includes the Phillips and Triwing screwdrivers needed (at least for my order). The installation isn’t too difficult, but having the right tools and guidance is important. I recommend watching a video on YouTube for the installation if you are not certain.
