Looks really nice. Easy enough to install. I bought this to replace a previous version that didn’t have the bracer rods along the hanging bar. Believe me, it NEEDS those rods so this is a great improvement. Those rods take the pressure off the whole structure so it doesn’t have to just cantilever out using just the screw mounts. This feels a lot more sturdy than the old model. And looks very clean and modern. It holds lots of folded towels on top. I hang my lightweight bathmat on the bar after every shower so it can dry. This transitional style nickel shelf was a decent match/relation to existing bath hardware in our master bath. We have a large roll in shower and needed to be able to have towels available inside the stall so a shelf was the obvious choice. We'd had a really good one in our previous home and I was hoping this would perform similarly. Our handyman had a little trouble getting the shelf snugged up to the brackets that are installed first. It's on the wall but it doesn't feel beefy and stable. There's a little wobble and I can push the shelf up and down a quarter inch or more at the front. It seems to be firmly attached so I'm not exactly sure what we could do to make it more stable. UPDATE: I rounded up the tiny allen wrench that comes with this shelf and stood in front of it, pushing the leading edge up as far as I could without breaking it. I used the allen wrench to re-tighten both sides and it is now considerably more stable. There's virtually no wobble any more. Having said that, the product itself appears to be of good quality and the finish is even/clear. Wonderful unit for the finishing touches of my bath. Lucky that my walls were flat and plumb, the lower legs cannot be adjusted to compensate for uneven or out of plumb walls.

I use this everyday; realized that hotels may be onto something since there is usually one in every hotel bathroom. Installed at the back of my shower, its one of those items which I cannot believe I lived without for years. It holds dry towels so they are handy for you at the end of your bath/shower, just reach up and there it is. Towels/face cloths dry out more quickly handing from the bar. You can store shower cap or whatever on the shelf. Whether its in a shower you use everyday, or in a guest bathroom to store the extra towels this is a lovely and useful amenity to your home. My husband is a structural engineer and also an excellent do-it-your-selfer. We have used Gatco Latitude II products for some years now but have noticed a diminishment in quality this time. Specifically, the wall anchors sent with the towel rack, for God's sake! You think include wall anchors that didn't crumble in your hands or break apart while trying to install but, nope, they put in blatantly inferior wall anchors which means Himself has headed out to Home Depot to rectify the situation. Why would any company do this??? I have no answer except for this one: QA/QC, which translates to Quality Assurance/Quality Control. They need it. I don't usually write reviews here, but I felt it necessary to convey my experience with this product. I ordered two of these at two different times. Remodeling was taking place in my apartment and we ordered the first one just to test the "look". As the bathrooms neared completion (after suffering MANY CoViD-19 related delays) we ordered the second one as we liked the look of the product when held up to the wall. Then came time to install... The bracket that screws to the wall and the towel rack mounts to just did not work. First off, the bracket is surrounded by curved edges (as shown in the photos) which prevented the towel rack from ever getting a good "lock" on the bracket. My contractor tried over twenty times between two of these racks on two different walls and could not get a single attempt to stay on the wall. As we tried to tighten the set screw that holds the rack to the bracket, the bracket was not thick (deep) enough and the set screw would ride up the front of the bracket and push the towel rack off the wall. This ended up doing a lot of damage to my newly remodeled and newly painted walls! Secondly, the metal of the mounting point of the towel rack is very soft and in fact the "hooks" that are intended to grab hold of the wall bracket got bent, chewed, smoothed, etc. further leading to the inability to stay on the wall. Finally, as shown in the photos, the mounting bracket when properly seated in the towel rack housing is nowhere near flush with the housing. This again is why the set screw rode up the front of the bracket every time we tried to tighten it. I ended up having to purchase two Gatco 4070 towel bars. These are just single towel bars with no shelf. The brackets that came with them were a different style!!! On a whim, I tried attaching the 4077 towel rack to those new brackets. Again, the towel rack would NOT attach to the wall. The set screw rode up the front of the bracket and pushed the rack off the wall. At this point, it could have been that the soft metal had been so deformed from so many attempts that it may not hook to any bracket. But my feeling is that the housing on the towel rack is too deep to allow the set screw to grab ANY bracket. As a side note, it is IMPOSSIBLE to find just brackets to mount towel bars of any kind. Nobody sells just the brackets. In the end, I am only able to return one of the two towel racks I purchased because the time limit on returns has elapsed for the first purchase. So I'm out $85 plus the damaged paint and scratches in my newly remodeled bath rooms. Lesson learned, I guess. Let me say that other than the mounting problems with the 4077 Towel rack, I have found the Gatco "Elevate" line to be a decent line of products. I now have four of their 4070 towel bars, a couple of hand towel rings, a couple of TP holders and the glass shelf. The products all look VERY good, have a nice finish, are lightweight but seem to be durable. I'm not complaining about any of that, just the mounting problems with the 4077 Towel rack. ... show more
