  • Great chair for the price
This chair is rear wheel drive and because of that is not as maneuverable as front or mid-wheel drives. All of the doors and doorframes in my house can attest to that. Also, if one of the drive tires encounters any serious resistance (flooring change, saddles under doors, etc) it tends to swing in that direction which exacerbates the problem of going through doorways without tearing them up. However, it is less than half the cost of most "sophisticated" chairs and it works well! I finally got my "Medicare chair" after 3 months of waiting and don't know what I would have done without the Forcemech. Now I will use it where it shines-outside. It only weighs 63 pounds vs 388 pounds for my "Medicare" wheels, has very aggressive tread on the drive tires and fairly large front casters (1 1/2 x 7 1/2) which do better in the dirt than the "pizza cutters" that many chairs use. I can go anywhere in my yard/farm without fear! If the casters do dig in it is easy to unstick them without even getting up due to the chair's light weight. It doesn't do well in loose sand (think beach sand) but the only ones that do well are the tracked vehicles costing 4-10 times as much. Also, when outside a direction change of 5 degrees due to encountering an obstacle doesn't matter a bit. The battery seems to go forever on a charge, I recharge it once every week or two, it folds up easily and compactly and goes in the car without a problem. It seems to be well made. It has plenty of power. All in all it is a great chair for the price, the only "shortcoming" it has is inherent to all rear wheel drive chairs! ... show more

  • A high quality product
Chair was received with short delivery time and in perfect condition. Good packaging made opening and set up fast and easy. The only things keeping this from being 5 stars were the front wheel axle bolts being installed with the nuts on the outside of the yoke presenting a damage hazard when going thru narrow openings . A helpful hint to the specifications would be allow allow ?? inches in width for the caster of the wheels if turning. Basically however, a great machine. ... show more

  • I would buy this chair all over again
My wife uses this chair due to her very limited mobility. This is our 3rd Battery Chair, so I have a lot of experience to compare by. We still have her OLD zero turn chair that's better for tight quarters between the bedroom wall, bed and dresser. By zero tun I mean her old chair has center drive wheels, 2 forward anti-tip wheels and 2 rear stabilizing wheels. Six wheels total. This old chair is not very portable which is why i bought the Forcemech This new Forcemech Navigator is rear wheel drive and is trickier in tight spots. Other than this, we are very pleased with the purchase. I called Forcemech customer service to get them to send me an owners manual ahead of the delivery. I got a voice mail recording. I did not leave a message and I did not leave my number. They called back anyway in 5 minutes and emailed what i needed. I was pretty impressed. Pro's: - American Company even if its made elsewhere. - Great customer support. - Very easy to set up and go. - The battery life is unlike any other chair we have had. The battery life is truly impressive. I assume this is because the batteries are Lithium in contrast to our other chairs which are lead acid. Again, very impressive battery life. We've gone 2 weeks on a single charge - Very comfortable. - Getting around outdoors is really nice. A little dicey in gravel. Grass is no problem. My wife's independence is way better. The best thing is I no longer have to push her in her old wheel chair everywhere. She takes off and leaves me in the dust, which is awesome for me. - My wife loves it. Con's; - a little awkward getting in and out of the back of our SUV, but how can't it be it's a 55 pound battery chair that's built to carry a person. Ideally if to people are available to load and unload it is infinitely easier. - jumping a curb with no wheel chair ramp is a problem, so you have to know your route ... show more

  • It Could Be Better
I'm going to preface this with the fact that this is the first chair I've ever purchased. I got it to help me through my recovery. It is a little squirrely on uneven surfaces because it is essentially rear wheel drive. That also means it is easy to get caught in doors because the threshold jostles the front wheels, skewing your direction. I don't really need it inside, so this is not a deal breaker. But you should be aware of this if you plan to use it indoors. You will need a good sized turn radius. The steering joystick isn't firm and contributes to the squirrely drive. I'm not wheelchair bound, so I just get out and flip it to manual to push through tighter spaces. I bought it mostly because my stamina is limited while I am recovering, and after a year at home, I didn't want to be limited to how long I can stand or walk when visiting a park or gardens. For that purpose it works well enough. I drove it over brick walks, gravel, pavement and grass successfully. It was most challenging over the brick. I continually bounced from one groove to another. Battery life is great. Be sure to pick up a lumbar pillow for improved comfort. ... show more
