Top Amazon Reviews

  • Well pleased - Great Value - Easy Setup
OK - So let me just start that I got a bit burned out with resin printers and decided to go back to one of these. I purchased mine based on other reviews and the fact that the thing just looks super cool when it is doing it's business. The price seemed like a good value and of course Amazon is there to make the whole purchasing experience pretty awesome. It came super fast, like the next day or two so I was pretty excited, (Christmas in July). My first impressions are/where that it was very well packaged, almost kind of like super awesome well thought out packaging. The component pieces were what I would have expected to see on a machine that cost 3 x the price, so high marks here as well. Also nice was that they include some starter white filament as well as a nice little bag of extra's. I really dig the little snippers and use them all over the house. Assembly was far easier than I expected and a nice booklet was attached and they FLSUN also has very very very good online assembly setup videos. I was up an running in less than an hour and was able to make the sample rabbit and nut/bolt right away. I really like the controller that it comes with and the wifi features. Super easy to use. No regrets on this purchase at all. I really feel that it is an easy 5 stars to give. Great build quality with lots of extra features and a price that I really like... Well done Amazon and FLSUN! ... show more

  • Expensive but it's insanely fast
This FLSun V400 Delta 3D printer is expensive but it's insanely fast and the print quality is great and it has an impressive build volume. If you are new to 3D printing, this is a delta style printer. These are much taller than Prusa style printers as there needs to be extra space above for the arms that move the print head around. This one is exceptionally tall. Seriously, I get on a step stool to change out my filament because even as a tall woman, I can't reach it since I have it sitting on a cart. You would be able to reach it if you placed it on a low table but then, you'd have to squat down to check and remove your print, as well as access the tablet that controls the printer. So most folks are going to need a step stool or ladder. It's also quite weighty and you may need some help with the box and moving it after assembly. Yes, you will need to assemble this printer. There are videos and I strongly suggest watching a few and then having the video playing next to you as you assemble. I did not find it difficult to assemble as you are mostly just attaching the side rails and then plugging cables in. It took me about an hour at a leisurely pace as I was doing it alone. It comes with a thumb drive that has the user manual on it, as well as Cura slicing software and some models to print. I suggest copying all of the files onto your computer ASAP in case you lose the thumb drive. You also get a small spool of PLA filament, along with some tools. If you are brand new to 3D printing, you will struggle a bit however, that is the case with almost every 3D printer. You need to realize there is a learning curve and it will take time but help is out there. I especially like the FLSUN V400 user group on Facebook. It's an excellent source of help along with FLSUN customer support. I am a woman in my late 60s and I have been 3D printing for about 10 years now and I have to say, this is my favorite printer so far. Some of the great features are the tablet that controls the printer. It's about the size of a Kindle and you can control so many aspects of your print from there. I also love the high temp hot end and the high temp heated bed since I can print almost any type of filament with this. I love the direct filament drive, too. It lets me print with flexible filament very easily. I like the flexible, removable, magnetic, print surface. Prints stick well and are easily removed. It has a removable bed leveling tool, which is very cool but since it must be removed to print, I have concerns that I might lose it. I put a command hook on the top of the printer and I hook it there when not in use. Luckily, since the bed doesn't move on Delta printers, you only need to level once a week or so if you are printing a lot. There are also LED lights around the print head so you can easily check your prints for any issues during the printing process. This is huge for me. The biggest draw for me is the insanely fast print speeds. I teach a lot of children about 3D printing and it's very hard for younger children to wait for a model to take 4 or 5 hours (or more) to print. There are soooo many models that you can print in under an hour with this printer! With no loss in print quality! This is just astounding to me. It makes this printer an excellent choice for teachers or folks who print a lot of prototypes for business. Truthfully, you can get an excellent, Prusa style, printer for less than half the price of this printer that will give you top quality prints and a big print volume but they won't be able to come close to the speed. So I would say that speed is the best reason to purchase this printer but if it's within your budget, you will likely love these fast print speeds. I find I rarely use my other printers since I got this one because they just seem so slow. ... show more

  • Assembly was Easy, Printing has been Easier
This is my first delta style printer. I have 3 Core-XZ and a Core-XY, and I still consider myself new to 3D printing, but I feel like I just stepped out of my Kia and into a BMW. Assembly was far easier than the Core-XY. My vision isn't the greatest so I did need to use my phone to magnify some of the images, but you can also watch videos if you prefer. Assembly took about an hour but I was being especially careful, as I've learned with my other devices, 3D printers are not forgiving with inattentive users. I printed the CHEP cube and was blown away, it took 8 minutes. The printer came with a mini spool of starter filament and this was greatly appreciated over the small amount you normally get with new printers. It's definitely enough to print several test models. I made the mistake of using old filament and my first 3 cubes looked good, but had poor layer binding. This was my fault, as soon as I used the included filament, and then on to my other supply, I've had no issues at all with layer binding or adhesion. Taking advantage of Wireless: Connect your printer to your desired wireless network using the tablet display. Make note of the IP address on the screen. In Cura, download the extension "Moonraker Connect", then in Manage Printers, click Connect Moonraker, enter your IP "http://192.168.X.XX", then in the second tab, Upload, change "GCODE" to "UFP with Thumbnail". Now, when you slice a model, you'll get the Upload to "Printer Name" instead of Save to File/External Media. You will also be able to see a thumbnail of your model. Remember this printer is FAST! An articulated mechanical octopus I printed that would have taken one of my other printers around 18-23 hours on 0.2mm took only 10 hours on this printer. Most of the speed is in accelerations though. So very complex models will still take longer. I'm just very impressed I'm maintaining a lot of the quality with high speeds. I have a lot of experience tinkering with my other printers and taking them apart and putting them back together. I hope when it comes time to explore the inside of that fascinating but intimidating effector I'll have as much fun. ... show more
