Description

Hidden Bracket Mounting Instructions Find the studs in your wall and mark them. Make corresponding marks on the bracket toward the bend. Drill a 3/16" hole on each mark. (I find it easier to use a hammer and nail. Put a piece of wood behind the bracket and pound the nail through. Now you have your pilot hole) The bracket is installed with the short side down, the long side on the top. Screw centers must be 3/16" below the bend or closer. Otherwise, the shelf will droop. Step 2 Screw the bracket to the wall at your stud marks. Do not over tighten the screws, the bracket will bend and making it difficult to slide the shelf on. NOTE: We do not pre-drill the brackets as this gives you more flexiblity to hang them where you want. The bracket can also be cut shorter if necessary. Step 3 Slide the shelf onto the bracket. The bracket does not need to fit in the groove in the back of the shelf. The relief is for the screw heads. This allows the shelf to fit flush to the wall. Push the shelf tight to the wall with a slight tilt up and install the 1 1/4" long screws into the pre-drilled and countersunk holes. Finished! The screws should be flush with the top of the shelf when installed. U.S. Patent No. 9,163,415

This turned out to be a very impressive shelf. I was first impressed by the way it was packaged. It was double boxed. The outer box took the brunt of the handling and shipping while the inner box protected the wood. It arrived without a scratch on it. Well, other than the wear and tear it took while it was part of a barn! They must have just put the last coat of finish on it before shipping because when I took it out of the box, there was a strong smell of varnish or wood stain or whatever they used to finish the wood. I had to put it out on the back porch over night to let it air out. By morning it was fine. The next thing that impressed me was the weight. This isn't just a plank of wood. This is a serious chunk of lumber. I was a little concerned at first about hanging something that heavy on my wall, but then the cupboards hanging in my kitchen had to weigh a lot more than this, so... Then I got a little concerned about the way you hang it. There was this thin piece of sheet metal bent at a right angle you attached to the wall and the shelf fit over that. But it worked like a charm. I'm not the world's best do-it-yourselfer, something that might take a more experienced person an hour will take me three hours but... I did get it hung. I managed to find two studs in the wall to attach it and I used an additional dry wall anchor just to be sure. And it's solid as a rock. One word of warning, have a strong power drill to use, with long drill bits. My little Black and Decker wasn't up to the task and my drill bits were too short. I had to "armstrong" it and that was a lot of work. But it looks good. It's obviously and old piece of wood, weathered and worn. It's got a lot of character. I really like it. I hung it over my big screen t.v. and use it to store my DVD's. I recommend it to anyone looking for an attractive, impressive single floating shelf. ... show more

Great, sturdy piece of wood, and the application to the wall is a very simple task. I know that they're going with the "reclaimed" wood phrasing, but I tend to think that all that is doing is allowing them to charge more for something that is LIKE reclaimed wood. So it prices itself out of a star, but is still a great shelf, if you have the spare couple hundred dollars to spend. ... show more

This is a solid piece with a smooth finish! Perfect above our board and batten wall!! Installation went well following instructions exactly. Beautiful shelf. However the thin piece of metal that holds the shelf into the wall bracket is very unstable and the whole sheet wobbles if you even touch it with a finger. It would not be able to hold more than a couple of light items on top. Such a shame. If they had spent a fraction more to get a bit of a stronger metal this item would have reco5 stars. As it is I’ll have to buy and install brackets below it to make it sturdy enough to use for a painting or a plant. It definitely won’t look nearly as nice as it does “floating”. ... show more

Wood is lighter than expected for the price. Looks nice. Hard to install. Had to drill holes on the metal anchor. Did not come with holes. Took about 5 hrs for my handy husband to install. We also had to make a trip to Home Depot for better hardware.

This is the second time I bought these solid wood floating shelves from this seller. The first time was very satisfied, I really love the organic look of this product. However this time, I found one crack spot on one of the pieces. Maybe it looks fine right now, but I’m afraid when I install and need to drill on it, this corner piece will break which I do not want to see. I issued a return and reorder it again.
