  • Initially Skeptical but Exceeded Expectations
Color: Black
Summary - The FitInHot Camp Stove kept me comfortably warm and fed. It's small, lightweight and compact size made it simple and convenient to pack along with my other gear and without adding unnecessary weight or taking up valuable space. I had absolutely no problem setting it up, taking it down or managing it throughout my camping trip. The damper and air vent adjusted easily and there was only a slight, quickly disapating hot metal smell when used the 1st time. The included gloves are most useful and needed often. The wood camp stove is a good value when considering the low price-point in relation to the features and benefits it provides. Details - I must say that I was initially a little disappointed when I first seen the Wood Camp Stove in person... Even though I had read the measurements, my mind still pictured something bigger. I was also skeptical when initially picking up the package off of my porch to bring inside. It was extremely light and I worried if it would even be able to handle the heat from the fire in the first place. Then, I had waited until the last possible minute to make the purchase and I needed the stove the very next day, so with no chance of getting another one delivered on time, I decided it would be better than nothing. This "little" wood stove ended up surprisingly me in every possible, positive way throughout my 5 day, 4 night camping trip into the Teton Mountains during the crisp fall days of October in Wyoming. Not only is it simple to assemble, it's unique in the fact that it is lightweight and easy to manage... Even for someone like me who is 5'3", 100 pounds and more times than not, solo trekking. EVerything needed for the stove (all the exterior components) pack up conveniently inside of the stove itself! Genius!! The coldest night on my camping trip got down to just 2°, but from inside my small, thick-walled, canvas tent you wouldn't have guessed it. I didn't even put as much wood into the little stove as I thought I would, but it was more then adequate to keep the place comfortably warm, even without any of the subzero gear I packed along. There was a slight smell, but it didn't smell like harsh chemicals, or burning plastic... More like new, hot metal and it went away after maybe 20 minutes without leaving any pungent, lingering odors behind. Unlike other stoves I've used right out of the box that needed to be used at least once, preferably several times to rid it of harsh, unnatural smells that will drive you out of your tent and can forever after be detected in the walls of the tent... Yeah, you only make that mistake once -_- When it comes to using the stove for preparing and cooking meals, i personally found it fine for those little, individual sized "mess pots" and pans, but keep in mind that while it is plenty hot, theres just not much surface area to cook on. The extending wire-rack arms are sturdy enough for some simple prep work as long as your preparing whatever while sitting down on the ground/floor... The stove isn't but maybe knee high and the small size makes it inadequate for cooking an elaborate, several course meal, or even a simple one course meal for more than 1, maybe 2 people. I did use it often (and successfully!), to prepare and cook the simple 1-pan meals (omelets, roast beef hash, steak, bacon and eggs, tinfoil dinners, trout, asada and breakfast tacos, 3 ingredient cobbler and I reheated leftovers numerous times). The extending arms worked perfectly to hang my wet gloves and they would always be dry by morning. I really like that they thought of including heat resistant gloves and I used these literally every time I used the hot stove. The pieces of wood to keep the stove going need to be pretty small... Think a little bigger then kindling, but when adjusted to burn low and slow, is more than adequate to keep a small tent space surprisingly warm along with the cast iron I use to extend the heat. I would recommend the little stove to other solo adventures with little space and those looking to heat their smaller sized, wood stove capable tents. ... show more

  • Great Stove over all but some pipes were might be too small
Color: Black
Bought this on sale to go with a new hot tent. Unboxing went well, everything was packaged well, and appeared to be present. Assembly went well for the most part EXCEPT when I tried to assemble the chimney pipes, I discovered two of the pipes didn't fit with the rest of them (or each other). They appear to be a touch too small on the female ends, the male ends fit just fine into the female ends of the other pipes so not sure what happened. Checked Amazon to see if it was possible to contact the vendor to see if I could just get two new pipes BUT the only recourse was to box it up completely and return for a replacement or a refund. Overall I really liked this stove over others I researched and would rather just get two new pipes vs trying to get a full replacement. There are replacement pipe kits available which should fit. Overall I really like the rest of the stove, just wish all the chimney pipes would have fit together. In a nut shell, if your looking for small stove for your hot tent, this isn't a bad one with out busting the bank while you decide if hot tenting is for you or if you want a more expensive titanium model. ... show more

  • Good size
Color: Black
I haven't been able to get this outside yet since it won't stop raining. I like the size of this wood burner, it is small and lightweight and won't take up a lot of room in the tent. I compared it to a football for comparison. Can't wait to break this in camping. Love that it can be used to cook on top of. I'll add more pics once I can get it outside and start it up. Very easy to put it all together. ... show more

  • Potent stove from a legit company that stands by their products
Color: Silver
I purchased this wood stove to use in a 200-square-foot geodesic dome because I didn’t have room for – or need for – a full-size wood stove. Unlike many other tent stoves, you get two windows on this model, which really sold me on it. I’m a sucker for the glow of a good fire, and hiding it all behind cast iron just seemed like a waste. Though the stove is barely bigger than a shoebox, it throws off plenty of heat for a small enclosed space. With chunks of kiln-dried alder, I was able to keep my dome warm enough to lounge around in a t-shirt on a 20-degree night. Just keep in mind: Unlike a larger wood stove, there’s not much room to “bank” coals in this thing, so you’ll need to constantly feed it. And the small size means you’ll want to cut your firewood to half the standard length. For the price, the quality of the stove is quite impressive, with one exception – the glass. The first time I lit up the stove, the side glass shattered. When I went to replace it with the included spare, I found that it had broken during shipping. Lily at Fitinhot customer support very promptly responded to my request for replacement glass, but I received the wrong size two times before they were able to make it right by sending a new stove. Apparently, my model was an old style they no longer have the right size glass for. While I wish it hadn’t taken so long to remedy, I applaud them for standing by their product and making it right, even at considerable expense. This is a company I’d absolutely buy from again. Receiving the replacement stove also gave me the opportunity to see all sorts of improvements they’ve made to this product in just a few months. The stove no longer ships with the glass installed (which should prevent shipping breakage), it’s easier to install thanks to threaded holes in the body, and the top chimney pipe now has perforations. The included gloves are also a nice touch since you’ll be handling raw-edged glass during assembly. ... show more
