This camera has great picture quality. A suggestion would be to remove the battery after your tour to ensure that it doesn't drain while you're off duty. You can get additional batteries and a stand alone charger for them as well, will probably be my next purchase.

    • Great, mostly easy to use
I got this a month ago, and so far I’ve gotten pretty cool video on a couple fires. Pros: -Video quality is fantastic, and pretty good in low light. Audio isn’t half bad either -Easy to use onscene—just hit the button and it starts recording, hit it again to pause -The BlackJack mount it comes with is handy, it has storage for its Allen wrench so you can get the camera off the mount quickly for charging or getting videos downloaded -Downloading videos onto my computer is super easy, just plug and transfer -Comes with their specially-formatted SD card already which is nice. I wouldn’t try to use your own SD card unless you want to deal with formatting it. -Seems durable so far Cons: -The manual contradicts itself about charging. When you plug it into the wall, it starts recording right off the bat, so you have to stop that and turn it back off. I’m still not entirely sure I’m charging it right haha—it’s sitting next to me and has a dull green LED on, and I’m guessing it’ll turn off when it’s done charging. I might buy their standalone battery charger for the sake of actually knowing the batteries are charged. -Speaking of the manual, it doesn’t come with a physical copy, which isn’t a huge deal, you just have to find it online. I found an easy way to share the videos is to just upload them to YouTube. Overall, super happy with the purchase, I’d buy it again. ... show more

Water resistant, picture quality amazing, not sure about battery life. Only have on fire recorded just got it. Camera survived aggressive interior attack. Obviously not much of a show till the seat of fire found but made the whole thing worth it and good training videos for truck work on inside. Would have given it a 5 total but came used and already assigned to another account. But it’s still a good camera worth the money in my opinion. ... show more

    • Work spectacular.
Work spectacular, holds up very well. Coming from a GoPro it does feel a little bit picky and like a little bit extra effort to maintain however overall it's a spectacular choice for firefighting

I've used this for a month or so now and I find it easy to use, just press and hold the button for a second and it'll turn on and do the same to turn it off. Camera is crystal clear and captures amazing footage.

I have the fire cam onyx and it is a great cam except the video skips like crazy and I can not figure out how to fix it. If I could figure out how to fix the video this thing would be forsure 5 stars

    • Disappointed
Used for 3 weeks and now it doesn’t work. Directions are not useful for modifying settings. Purchased and tried a new battery as well a memory card. Nothing worked. A lot of money for a weeks worth of video.

Went with Firecam after having a ragecam, the ragecam broke within 3 months without seeing any real trauma. Don't skip on quality, this company has some of the best customer service I've ever seen. You can trust that they will do the right thing. I tried to cut corners on quality to save a dime and got egg on my face. Camera and mount are excellent, easy to understand and use, robust and give hepatic and audio feedback so you don't have to wonder what the camera is doing.
