I still lift weights but the consensus is modern weight training should be resistance band training and not free weights for athletic performance. Tom Brady stopped free weights and only does resistance band training. These bands fit the bill, and comes in a compact package great for travel. People will say resistance band exercises tend to create longer and leaner-looking muscles. On the other hand, free weights are better for building big muscle mass in targeted muscle groups. So, while they're both great for building muscle, one of them is better for toning and the other for bulking. Definitely if you're older, have limited space, or have back pain resistance bands are better than free weights. Hope this was helpful! ... show more

I got this as an addition to my home gym and it comes with so many cables- I love that we have options a to use this or my dumb bells in the garage. I have not used it too much so I can’t speak to the durability but the set is great for being able to do workouts at home

Having had multiple sets of resistance bands over the years, these are cool because not only are they NOT tubes, they are square and SOLID (not hollow). The handle attachments are solid and comfortable, and have rubber on them for better grip. The ankle bands are even impressive because they are thick and wider than most.     • Especially good for a workout on the go!
The thing that surprised me most about this set, was how compact it all is, as almost eveything fits inside the little black bag. This make its especially good for travel, as when compacted and stored the whole thing is about the size of a pair of sneakers, and probably a bit lighter. If your hotel does not have a gym, this might be a very convenient take-along on a trip. I like that it is made from natural rubber. I also like the wide selection of bands, and that resistance can be increased by using multiple bands. The handles and the ankle straps seem well made and are soft to the touch. I have not used the ankle straps, but by looking at them, I think that they are likely to be very user friendly. I took a star off for two reasons: 1) the exercise directions were in very small print and were not very legible; and 2) I have concerns about durability for a power user. If used on trips, or for supplemental workouts I think they are fine and should reasonably last. However, someone who uses them everyday may run into problems, as the straps are made from hollow tubing and feel a bit thin. They also tend to offer ample resistance on the initial stretch, but feel a little soft on pullback resistance. ... show more
