I thought this would give my dog more confidence in being in the water, but alas, she is not a water dog. However, she doesn’t drown when she’s wearing her vest and it fits her 40lb frame well. I like that the neck part is detachable because it can get in the way, or be helpful, depending on your dog. There is a handle on top so I can pick her up out of the water if she decides she wants to jump off and paddle to shore alone. I also like that there is a reflective part of it too. 4 stars because, while it works, I believe that with regular usage some parts would not last long (Velcro, clips). The materials seem cheap. PLEASE!! Protect your pet if you are going to be taking them boating, tubing or paddle-boarding/kayaking. Trying on, was a bit stiff at first but after putting on Bella (she never complained) it conformed to her body quickly. She likes to go with me tubing/kayaking and has fallen/jumped into the water a few times. I would never forgive myself if she drowned for any reason...crowed lakes, wake from boat, etc... I liked the color selection. Not sure how great the flap under the face worked to secure the dogs head to stay up but perhaps in calm water it would help. Over all I liked how it fit on my Westie. I bought a medium and he’s 20 lbs.
