  • An unknown gem of a knife.
This knife was, to be honest, a quite pleasant surprise. I had never heard of EKA. I like the 12C27 Sandvik steel, it gets very sharp and stays that way through a lot of usage. Fit and finish is outstanding. The grooves cut into the top of the blade at the rear give your thumb a secure rest. I like the extra belly in the blade, I have found this a useful blade shape. It is sabre hollow ground, my favorite style. You get the extra strength of the flat area at the top of the blade and it is easy to sharpen with my Lansky kit. Knife opens and closes smoothly, locks securely. I prefer the lockback design this knife features. It comes with a well made leather pouch with belt slits that is a real good fit for the knife. Snap lock works fine, leather is properly thick. The wood has a nicely figured grain, is well shaped and finished. My one and only minor criticism is that I wish it had a thumb stud for one handed opening. You cannot go wrong buying this knife. ... show more

  • Very good knife for the money
I have only inspected this knife at home, not yet actually used it in the field, but I wanted to post a review because this is a very good knife at an affordable price. This knife is very light yet also extremely sturdy. The lockback has absolutely no play whatsoever. The top of the blade has some jimping to enhance your grip. The bubinga handle feels fantastic in my hand. I really couldn't ask for anything more from a locking folder with a classic look that costs under $50. I probably would prefer a leather sheath, but I'm satisfied with the one they gave me. The sheath does have a couple purely cosmetic flaws (for example, the EKA logo is stitched a little crooked) but not anything to worry about. There's also a larger model called the Swede 10. I chose the smaller Swede 8 because you can use it as a pocket knife as well as an outdoors knife. The steel is Sandvic 12C27, which is widely used in Scandinavian knives and keeps a good edge while also easy being to sharpen. If you're on this page because you like the look and style, I think you'll be very pleased with the quality, ergonomics, lightness, and sturdiness of this knife. ... show more

  • Not what I expected.
This is the dullest Swedish made knife I have ever bought. Won't be a problem to sharpen, but not typical of a Swedish knife. The color of the handles is very dark, not like the advertised item. I collect knives so this does matter to me. There are plenty of knives of this quality for a lot less money. ... show more

  • Swedish Style and High Quality
Beautiful and well-crafted knife from Sweden that feels substantial in the hand, but not too heavy for long carries. Nylon sheath is ok, but will use another as the snap closure will certainly mark up the bubinga wood handle over time. Vendor delivered promptly and in good condition.

  • Worth every penny; Sandvic 12C27 steel
Quality solid construction, functional and attractive design. The Sandvic 12C27 makes it worth every penny; very sharp; reputed to be a knife steel "grade with high hardness and good wear resistance. Takes (a) very keen edge with ok edge holding." (Wikipedia)
