These are larger than chicken eggs and fun for supervised play at music time. The finish is a little rough and there is no top coating over the paint. They need to be handled like musical instruments, not baby rattles.

I am a private lesson teacher for toddler general music, and I use them all the time. They work well and are nice to look at. They don't have any heft to them, so if you are looking for an egg that has heft when you shake it then these are not the eggs to get. They are bigger than regular egg shakers in my experience, but I honestly prefer that for toddlers. Overall, good product. Edit: I let another teacher use them, and one got thrown against the wall and broke. So they're not indestructible. Just an FYI if you have kiddos who may throw them. Bought these as a gift for my 9 mo. old granddaughter. Look adorable, she loves them and perfect for her little hands. However, the packaging states "not intended for kids under 3" . Their advertising doesn't mention the age restriction and their picture shows a young toddler playing with them. A little confused. They're definitely big enough to not be a choking hazard. I suppose there's the possibility if they break open the shaker parts would be small enough for a toddler to swallow, but they appear to be solid wood and well constructed.
