  • It works, but use caution- mine burst.
Size: No Size
I was very lucky clearing a 2" pool line that when it burst I was able to put a hose in the opposite end of the pipe to remove the two pieces, or my problem would have been much worse. My issue was with how far I could put it into the pipe, it needs to be fully contained inside the pipe. I believe mine burst due to the edges of the pipe. There is a definite pulsating affect that was rattling pool pipes above ground before it burst. ... show more

  • Works every time, and is so much better and faster than a chemical drain cleaner
Size: No Size
Despite consistent use of a hair filter, something occurred which clogged up my main shower, suddenly leaving a couple inches of standing water. Unfortunately I could not quickly unclog the drain with a flexible hair remover, or small drain snake like normal, so I used a jug of a popular brand maximum-strength liquid gel drain cleaner which accomplished nothing after 6 hours (I don't know why I bothered wasting time on drain cleaner). I used to have a Drain King I bought ~25 years ago and have used a few times over the years so I was confident this would do the job, but I couldn't quickly find it so I opted to get another one. With Amazon's next day delivery I soon had a new one in hand. The design and use of this new one is exactly how I remember and the results were equally quick to achieve and long-lasting. One usage suggestion is to remember to put a 1/4-turn ball-valve shut-off in line with the hose and Drain King device to enable quick water supply turn-off (just in case anything goes wrong like not having a firm grip on the Drain King and letting it back out of the clogged drain spraying water, or such as causing a backflow through a nearby drain upstream of the clog). I was prepared for this by plugging the nearby sinks and tub (since I wasn't sure where the clog was actually located), inserting the Drain King deeply, and holding it firmly. Once set up, I turned on the water supply for 5 seconds to let the Drain King pressurize the drain pipe, then I turned it off to confirm everything was as expected. The drain was already beginning to flow after zero flow for >24 hours. I re-installed the Drain King and turned it on for 15 seconds then removed it. The drain was flowing like new and the shower quickly emptied. I repeated with the Drain King one more time for 60 seconds, then put everything away. Weeks later everything is still perfect and I reminded myself I could probably proactively do this once per year as preventative maintenance on problem drains and never have to deal with a clogged drain again. Thank you Drain King for a cost-effective, quality, and easy-to-use product. (By the way, the feature ratings include a question about Suction Power which is not relevant to a Drain King device. I suggest removing the question or changing it to something relevant.) ... show more

  • Unclogged - FINALLY
Size: 0.75-1.5"
I used various chemicals and my shop vac, sucking and blowing on my clogged condensate line. After several attempts, water would flow ... only to have it clog again in 2-3 weeks. Even had an A/C tech work on it, only to have it clog again. When I compared this Drain King to the condensate access, it is too long to fit inside, so I didn't think it would work. Plus, the nearest spigot for a hose was 60 feet away = how could an assistant control the pressure at the valve while I held it in place? Fully frustrated, I decided to give it a try. Purchased a shut off valve and assembled Drain King to shut off valve to the hose. Had assistant turn on water while I maintained the shut off valve closed. NOTE: Had to be very careful with the shut off valve because having most of the Drain King exposed meant it would be easy to burst the bellows! I.E., open the shut off slowly to effect a seal and start the hydraulic process. In the end, about a foot of grey-white gunk was forced out of the condensate line - assistant at first thought it was a snake! Be sure to have something (towels?) at the ready because there will be leakage. I am now A/C-ing happily ever after. Previously, I looked into C02 guns, but each time used it exhausts a cartridge. Since I'd already expended a great deal of effort without success, I was concerned it would be wasted money. Plus, if the C02 blast ruptured the pipe under the house, it would be an expensive fix. ... show more

  • Unclogged my washer drain
Size: No Size
My basement has been flooding and I've had to put my thinking cap on and try other ways to fix the issues downstairs. I got to thinking about when it first started flooding where the water first came in and it was by the washer. So I started to research YouTube and saw that people used this item to unclog drains. I took the plunge and ordered this item. The day I got this I hooked it up to the hose and went right downstairs with it and put it in the washer pipe going outside. Turned the hose on it made a horrible sound! Horrible. After about 4 minutes all of a sudden I heard running water. With terror on my face, I thought this item failed and broke in the pipe. My son ran to shut the water off and came back and we pulled this out of the pipe and it was intact and in perfect condition. At that point I realized that the pipe was severely clogged up and it unclogged the pipe. So we turned it back on and let it run another 4 minutes and put the drain for the washer back together and I will be moving on to more pipes in the house and will order the one to do the sewer pipe as well. I highly recommend this tool to anyone and I think in the long run doing your pipes like this will save a lot of time and money over the years. I had no idea that pipe was clogged and let alone that bad off. ... show more
