I don't know what it is with flashlights today. They're tactical, metal, have multi-select switches, S.O.S. modes, strobe modes are super bright or not so bright and the batteries don't last that long. Okay, sure, I have my selection of these lights to play with and use but they are battery-eaters or require recharging. They're not that dependable for length of use or storage. Sure, I can illuminate something a quarter mile away or light up a room like it's sunrise but how often do I need to do that? I find that metal housed lights have a tendency to cause the batteries to leak (ahem...Mag Light) so I spend $30-$40 bucks on a light that I can't keep the batteries in while it's in the car. Or you go to look for something and have to hit the tail switch several times to cycle through all the modes so you can just get a basic light. I shouldn't have to teach anyone how to work a flashlight and I shouldn't have to worry about the light in my wife's vehicle going bad or dead. Or, if you go get a simple cheapie to keep tossed in a drawer, it's still 1980's tech and you can't see 5' in front of you. So I got these. Simplistic white LED, a basic on/off switch where it should be, rugged enough to toss in a glove box and the with low-drain LED bulbs, no worry of dead batteries after 30 minutes. They are also inexpensive without being cheap. These are great for walking around the house at night. I can easily see the second story of my house, my AC units or whatever else I need to look at. I hand it to my Grandkids and they instantly know how to use it. It's either on or it's off. Simple. It's a cone-spot pattern so if focuses the light on your project when your checking your breakers or widens out to about a 6' diameter from across two rooms in the house. Outside you probably get about 25' of usable light before the pattern widens out too much. This makes it great for changing a tire at night or walking though those anti light-pollution fixtures that resorts use these days. This light is not for you if you need to carry the sun in the palm of your hand or want a self-protection device but if your just need simple, long-lasting usable light for everyday tasks, get it. ... show more

I honestly got this because my kid always wants to play with my pen-light, but it's a bit delicate for her. This is a nice flashlight that is heavy-duty for some semi-rough play* (*it can stand up to being dropped or banged against a wall). It's pink, so it's automatically girly (right?!) and if she does end up breaking it then it is a fair price to replace easily. So far so good! ... show more

I bought these for my kids to use camping and at night reading after lights out at home. We've had them for a few months and the flashlights work great! Easy for little fingers to use and night and bright. The kids love the clip on the end so they can hang the flashlight from their bunkbed. The flashlight really got tested the other night when my oldest had the stomach flu. I grabbed all the linens and threw them in the washing machine...along with the flashlight. OOPS!! I didn't realize it was in her bedding, but found it after the wash cycle had completed. It still works!!! For the price and the quality, I don't think you can get a better flashlight. ... show more

I bought a few LED lights 8 years ago(Eveready, Rayovac, Energizer, etc) and among them was this Dorcy. After all these years all the rest have failed in something(LED has died, cables broken, switch fails, etc.), and the only one that survived intact was this Dorcy. The light is still strong and the plastics are also almost like new, have not degraded or become sticky. **I have not tested the waterproof capabilities I have to say. Today the power went out and I've just used this flashlight aiming at the ceiling as a light for my room and it lasted like 5+ hours. After seeing this reliability I felt it deserved an honest nice and fair review. I will by 2 more on my next order on Amazon, I just hope the manufacturer has not decrease the quality of the components of this device. ... show more

We have four of these LED lights in different rooms of our home. Ordered them a few years ago and they are still going strong on the batteries that came with the flashlight. I ordered two more to put in two rooms upstairs, because they are such reliable lights, so bright too. We have a lot of power outages, so I like to have these LED flashlights close at hand in some of our rooms. We used to get regular flashlights, only used them once in awhile. When we'd need them, they would be so dim we could hardly see. I'm so thankful I found these Dorcy LED flashlights. They never fail us when we need them, I use them around the house a lot, not only for power outage, but so many other things.     • THIS IS A TERRIFIC FLASHLIGHT!

Over the years I have purchased several of these flashlights. It's small, easy to find because of the yellow color, has a really bright light and the battery life is really good. The last pair I got, one of the flashlights was intermittent. You had to hit it into your palm to get it to light up, then a few seconds later it would turn off. I called the manufacturer and he promptly sent me a replacement. Boy!! Talk about a company who stands behind its products. ... show more
