  • Held up for a year now.
Style: Cutaway Color: Natural
The media could not be loaded. So, I have had this for a year at the time of this review. I bought this to try out my acoustic skills. I have since reverted to be an adolescent again and customized it.. (last pic) i have an electric guitar, but this is my first acoustic. I bought inexpensive in case it wasn't for me, but from a name brand.. The action was decent out of the box (playable). I believe I adjusted the trust rod to get it a bit lower. This is a bright sounding guitar and is very light in weight. The gig bag is pretty good, actually. It's a great value for what you get. It's a great beginner rig. Stays in tune pretty well. Looks good also. Full-size cutaway guitar. If you're a beginner, you should probably change the strings out for some 10s or a lighter string than 12 gauge. Your fingers will thank me later. Bottom line.. It's worth having. ... show more

  • Seems to be good quality
Style: Cutaway Color: Sunburst
Received this delivery about an hour ago and it appears that the wood between the frets has mold on it which is a little concerning to me. I will update my review if the seller contacts me, otherwise it will stay 3 stars. Everything is here, it tuned fine, and aside from what looks like mold it is a great guitar. UPDATE - Customer service contacted me about my issue without any effort on my part aside from the review, and had a solution for the issue and did everything they could to help keep a happy customer! After a few weeks it still looks and sounds great! After my experience with this seller I have confidence in their products! ... show more

  • Good beginner.
Style: Cutaway Color: Natural
The tuning is hard and the capo doesn't work with this guitar at all. But it plays very good and comes with the whole set

  • A very very nice guitar!
Style: Cutaway Color: Natural
I ordered this while I was on travel for business, just to have a beater instrument to play in the evenings. I've played guitar for several decades and have a nice stable of instruments at home. I have other Donner guitar-related products (pedals etc.) at home and have always been happy with their gear. It's decent quality gear at a good price. This "beginner kit" seemed like it would fit my needs - it has not only the guitar, but bag, strap, capo, picks, tuner, spare strings, allen wrench for adjusting neck relief, and polishing cloth. The guitar is very very nice! Best I can tell, the top is not laminate, but is solid wood (specs say it's sitka spruce, and I could believe that). Sides and back may be laminate, but I don't think so. Fit and finish on the joinery and inner bracing look really good. Fret ends are nicely smooth and polished. The guitar was nicely packed and padded and was in great shape when I unboxed it. Strings were fairly slack (which is how a guitar is supposed to be shipped). I tuned it up and stretched the strings and the tuning has been rock-solid ever since, going on 36 hours of ownership, now. The neck relief needed a little bit of adjustment. The nut slots had the strings sitting a little high off the first fret, not terribly surprising given that it's a $150 mass produced guitar, but not at all a dealbreaker, either. The bridge is compensated and sits a little high, lending a slightly high action for the instrument. When I go to change the strings, it's easy enough to pull out the bridge and sand it down on the underside to lower the action by about half a millimeter...that's a 20 minute job. And...it sounds and plays really really well. It sounds like a dreadnought! Plenty of low end, projecting midrange, easy fretting with no buzzing. This instrument is a steal for what I paid for it. The extra bits are hit or miss, generally OK. - gig bag is not very padded, but it covers the instrument and provides some protection. - strap, picks, polishing cloth are nothing special - they get you up and running as soon as you unbox, but you'll probably want to get better picks and strap. - I can't comment on the extra strings; I haven't used them yet. They're 11-gauge (light acoustic). I'm sure they're fine, I assume they're the same ones that came on the guitar, which are perfectly serviceable. - the tuner was non-functional, but it wasn't a big deal...I have a tuner app on my phone...so no big loss Overall, five stars for the guitar. The guitar, and the overall kit, is perfect for a beginner...or really any player. I consider myself an advanced player and I just wanted an inexpensive instrument to play while on business travel. I wasn't expecting boutique quality; but this is a very playable instrument that's a steal for what I paid for it. If I had a suggestion, maybe it would be to leave out some of the extra bits (tuner, strings, strap) and upgrade the gig bag. ... show more

  • Not Super Beginner Friendly
Style: Cutaway Color: Natural
I got this guitar for a class in college, and it made learning the guitar a little more difficult for me. The strings are pretty far up than other guitars I have tried so it takes extra force to hold them down, which can be hard for super beginners. It also goes out of tune VERY QUICKLY! I have to re-tune it a lot when I'm practicing with it. Maybe not the best guitar to start out with, but I am a Beginner with a capital B, so maybe it just wasn't the best fit for me. ... show more
