I have two other Diono car seats that I love, and I really wanted to love this one, too. I love that they fit three across. I love that they have all the latest safety features, including an anti-roll bar and side impact absorber on this model. I love that they fold up for easy airline travel. I love that they last practically forever and grow with your child, making them a great value. But this seat is losing two stars, for two reasons: • minus half a star because of how much space it takes front to back when it's installed rear-facing. I drive a mid-size wagon, and I still have to have the front passenger seat pulled all the way forward to get this car seat installed behind it. Diono makes a high density foam pad that you can buy separately to raise the seat's incline and get a couple inches back for your front seat, which is the only way I have been able to make it fit. • minus one-and-a-half stars for the way the seat cover is designed. Anyone who has tried to take apart a car seat to wash the cover knows that they are never fun. This one is downright diabolical. It literally can't be removed or replaced without a pen or screwdriver, which you need to free an elastic tie on each side from a spiral of plastic in a joint of the chair frame. You also have to pop out two plastic rivets from behind the adjustable head protector. The first time I did it, I was worried about accidentally breaking a $300 car seat. On subsequent occasions I was less worried, but trying to replace those rivets entails sliding the fabric up behind the head protector and then trying to move it down to its lowest position without the fabric crumpling and wedging behind it. Then you need that screwdriver again to go along the entire edge of the fabric cover and tuck it back between the plastic shell to make a clean seam. The entire exercise is miserable, even when you're not trying to do it with a toddler "helping" you. I honestly don't think they could have designed a more frustrating experience if they tried. In summary, if you have a lot of space between rows in your car, and if your child never eats in their seat or has a diaper blowout, then this could be the car seat for you. But if you ever plan to wash your car seat cover, spare yourself the agony and look at a different Diono model. ... show more

Very sturdy car seat ! Looks nice and it’s well made with all the safety things it has. If you have a regular car or even a compact suv this won’t fit rear facing , I have a Kia telluride it’s a medium size suv and it fits just right but also because we are not tall people 5.5 5.6 the tallest so there is the right room for the front seat , if you are taller I believe you’ll have your legs squished in order to properly position it. So FYI before you buy it , other than that I feel is the safest car seat that you can find. ... show more

Bought this car seat 3 years ago so my grandson can ride in the convertable. So I bought the same one for my new granddaughter. My daughter also has one in her car. The steel frame and safety features is what sold me on this car seat

Pros- I can for 2 of these and my infant car seat across the back of my Toyota Highlander, my kids love the colors, wasn’t hard to put together Cons- very heavy, the cup holder was a stupid design as a three across type of seat(like make me mad kind of design) What idiot designs a cup holder to the very side instead of more to the front when you need it for 3 across? So neither of my kids can have a cup holder since they’re on the very side like that. ... show more

The three across would probably fit well in a different car. But for me, in a 2008 Forester getting three car seats, 2 were to diono's and an infant car seat did not work. The diono's were too tall for where the support bar behind the rear door was located. They did not fit in a middle and side orientation as it pushed the infant seat at a weird angle that was not safe. So if you were looking for a suggestion for a 2008 Foreste: get one Diono, and two Graco slim fit lx. Those do fit in only two combinations, but they do fit. We love our Diono and that's why I had tried it as a 3 cross option originally. ... show more
