  • So it's one of the many branded pocket scales in this size and form.
Color: Black
I may have gotten lucky and I'm sure scales mass produced like this have their fair share of defective units. If you get one that isn't accurate even after calibrating(I didn't need to) then send it back or message the seller here and ask if they can simply mail you a new one. Many times sellers will do this with an item this inexpensive to avoid the reshipping fees and whatever else amazon charges them for the prime service. Okay on first inspection I was worried. The weight plate was crooked. it was on tight and didn't wiggle but it looked like poor craftsmanship. I've always used the AWS type pocket scales which are the same shape and size and button layout is similar. It's the type that is by far the most common of these types of scales. AWS was the first to design these this way. They've always been accurate but the last one I bought, Jarvis brand, wasn't too accurate. This one the buttons were a little different and i generally had good luck with the others but I took as chance This scale is a 100g calibration weight. So, if you want to calibrate it you'll need a 100g weight. You can use 20 nickels and that will work too. They're 5g each I didn't need to calibrate it. It was good right out of the box I take a supplement that is much cheaper in bulk. I take 1.9g and it needs to be accurate. I weight out 1.90g and put a nickel on the scale it comes out to 6.90g on the nose. I replace it with a different nickel and same(which isn't surprising..most every nickel weighs exactly 5g) If i weigh out 0.10g and toss a nickel on the scale it seems a little less accurate. About +-/0.015ish. I have no problem accepting this scale at weights under 0.25G aren't going to be exact. I have had zero issues with weights between 1g and 5g down to the 100th of a gram which is pretty remarkable. When you get your scale use a combination of a nickel(s) and powder and see if yours is accurate, or accurate enough for you. ... show more

  • Checks off all the boxes & then some! (review also includes instructions on using counting/PCS fcn)
I love everything about this little scale! It checked off all the boxes for me, which no other mini scale did: - Readability to 2 decimal places for grams and 3 for ounces. It’s quite sensitive (just blow on it), but still settles. - Seems to be accurate (will see how it fares over time) - Includes counting/’PCS’ function (***detailed instructions below***) - Small & portable - Easy to read - Solid build with elegant design - Includes own tray (that stores upside down on the scale) - Includes own weight to calibrate. (Do I know the weight is accurate? No, but I know it’s at least pretty close--weighs same as 10 nickels at 5 grams each--and more than close enough for my needs.) - Secure but still easy-to-use locking clip on outside - Secure battery compartment (comes with own screw driver) - Very reasonable price/great value Bonus points (wasn’t necessarily looking for these features, but great to have) for: - Capacitive touch buttons (no ability for substance to get in under the buttons and very sensitive to the touch with fingers but not other stuff, although I know the touch sensitivity is a con for some) - Being able to plug in (USB cable included) in case batteries die during use. (Read other reviewers’ warnings/notes about having regular vs. rechargeable batteries in place when plugged in.) Only two relatively small Cons for me. - There is a slight gap on the right side of my unit where the scale component connects to/sits in the base--it’s just not flush like the left side and I worry about substances getting in there. I have tried to see if it will snap in tighter or further, but it does not. Not a huge deal. - The lack of instructions on how to use the counting/PCS feature. Neither the instructions in the brief “pamphlet” in the box nor those on the inside of the cover (but handy for calibrating the scale) included documentation on how to use the counting feature. I ended up spending a while hunting around online trying to find instructions for scales that also offered a counting feature and was often met with the same lack of documentation, but I did get a few ideas. Then I just played around with it, testing out various approaches, until I figured it out and could document it clearly. ***HOW TO USE THE 'PCS' FUNCTION TO COUNT ITEMS*** => Note that items you wish to count must be uniform in weight (as much as possible). => Also, fyi, the “ct” mode refers to carats, a measure of weight used for gemstones, and has nothing to do with the counting function of this scale--that is what the PCS (pieces) button is for. First you must set your "count weight." 1. Predetermine the item count you will use to set the count weight--you have 4 options: 25, 50, 75 or 100 items (higher counts are only really needed for very light items*). 2. Turn scale on. (Of course, hit the TARE button if you add a tray/bowl after the scale is turned on.) 3. From *any* mode, place your 25 items (or 50, 75 or 100) onto the scale. 4. Long press the PCS button until you get 25 or 50 (this can be adjusted). 5. Hit the MODE button to cycle through the 4 options until you are on the one that is the same as the number of items you placed on the scale. 6. Hit the PCS button to set the count weight. Now you are ready to count your items! 1. Make sure you are in the count/pieces mode. If not, hit the PCS button to get there (regular press, not long to enter into counting mode). 2. Add items to count or add/remove items to reach a desired count. (Can be more or less than what you used when setting the count weight.) Bonus: This scale will remember the weight of the last item you set a count weight for, even after you've turned off your scale (assuming your batteries haven't died). *The higher the count used to set your count weight, the greater accuracy you will have. However, using a higher item count only seems necessary with very light items. When counting paperclips or pills, for example, using the minimum of 25 items to set your weight seems to be sufficient. ... show more

  • Lit LED and accurate readings
Color: Black
Extremely accurate readings out of the box. The lit LED display is a nice touch as well. The options to zero the scale and calibrate when needed are the icing on the cake. Love having the ability to read to the nearest hundredth of an oz. The only downside is that it maxes out at 8 oz. Preferably, I would have wanted one that goes up to 12 oz or more, but it's not a deal-breaker. It was priced right! ... show more

  • What a cool tool.
I was not so sure this was gona be what I needed it for due to the cost. Boy was I wrong.... this scale works. It is very sensitive. Just blow on it and it gives read outs. I'm not sure how high it will go but for my tiny stuff it is just fine. If you use regular batteries it goes forever. If you get the recharge type batteries you have the option to recharge right in the unit thru USB. Neat deal. Price is great. Came in a well packed up box. Tested mine on arrival & no issues. Still goin strong after a few months of use. Green display is read easy. Advise keeping the little inside plastic scale cover. Keeps clean and dust free. Yes...even dust will weigh somthing. Wipe off very gently & go to work. Battery installation requires a tiny Phillips & they include that in the box. ... show more

  • Handy scale
Color: Black
This is a nice handy scale. The top cover doesn't look very durable but will keep it covered. Once it's opened, it looks nice and it does what it's intended to do. I wish it would have came with a calibration weight. I used it to weigh my bow arrows and seems to give identical readings.
