Bought this for someone who loves to read. Even with glasses, he has difficulty reading but this Magnifier Lamp has everything he needs to read and work cross-word puzzles. He is so happy with it. I would recommend this product.

The product itself works nicely. I am already enjoying the ability to read without holding a magnifier. The fact that the post is simply inserted into the base is a bit awkward since one cannot pick up the "gooseneck" portion of the lamp and move it without the post becoming disconnected from the base. The parts that had to be screwed into each other proved to be a bit challenging since some of the thread parts turned and I had to hold them with pliers to connect. This was a "new" lamp, but had been returned for some reason and was discounted a bit--which was my incentive to purchase it. The packaging was really bad and the Styrofoam came apart when I opened the box and overall I had Styrofoam particles all over the floor. The device itself was literally stuffed into the box in whatever manner necessary to re-mail it. In the future, I will pay full price and purchase totally new to avoid risking a mess. ... show more

The lamp arrived with a cracked base. It is very cheaply built. The female electric connector is glued to cheap plastic and it just sunk inside. To lift it, you have to lift the heavy base. It is clumsy and huge. I am returning ot.

The magnifying lamp was sturdy in build, but the most important part--the viewing area--was cheap distorted plastic. It had the fishbowl look and only about half the viewing area was useable. The package also appeared to be a "repackaging" of a returned item. I decided to put it together and give it a chance, but when I plugged it in and tried to read a book the partial "fishbowl look" started to give me a headache. .I will attempt to repackage this in its already repackaged materials and send it back. Very disappointing!! I rarely return anything, but at this price and its uselessness, I am doing so now. If you value what is left of your eyesight, do not buy this. It is sad to produce what is a very sturdy product and then insert a piece of distorted useless plastic in the most important area of the product. ... show more

My significant other bought this for me as an early Christmas gift. I was constantly hunched over doing my counted cross stitch. My mom offered a magnifier that I could wear around my neck, but I couldn't get it to fit correctly. This fits the bill! The LED light is bright, there is quite a large work/viewing lens, and the gooseneck stand allows me to sit where I want for perfect ergonomics. One of the best gifts I've ever received. The only complaint I would have is that he ordered one that had an open box which was a few dollars less. On the day I was notified it was to be delivered, I got a second notice that it would be returned to Amazon as the box was damaged. We knew the box would be damaged, hence, the price was a bit less. He had to re-order another one so it could be delivered. I received the magnifier a week later than anticipated. The magnifier is great! The delivery was frustrating. ... show more
