I bought this Fossil Collection Kit for my 7-year-old nephew for Christmas. HE IS GOING TO LOVE IT ! ! ! ! ! ! It comes with 12 fossils and 12 identification cards. Each fossil & card comes in their own resealable baggie for a total of 12 baggies. Also comes with a little fossil identification book & a little "Geological Time Scale" poster. All in a cute little box. (At first I thought "Oh no" because the box was so little but then I opened it and thought "Oh yes, this is adorable & HE is going to think this is AWESOME!") And for any little GIRL out there who loves finding rocks, etc., SHE will love it too! : ) ... show more

I don't know what is better, the product or the customer service! The kit comes with 12 fossils individually packaged with an information card for that fossil. You will also received a very informative geological time scale and a booklet with information about the fossils. I purchased this for my in-home preschool when our theme of the week was fossils. The children absolutely loved handling them and learning about them. When I opened the kit and went through the fossils, I discovered that one was missing. The package and card was there, just not the fossil. I contacted the company via email asking if it were possible to receive a replacement one. The only question asked was for my shipping address. I RECEIVED THE FOSSIL THE VERY NEXT DAY - a Saturday, even. Granted, I live in Oregon and the company is in Oregon just north of me, but I did not expect to see it that fast. It's a very fun purchase, and not only did my preschool children love it, all adults and my own older children loved handling and reading all of the facts. If you're on the fence about purchasing, just go for it. The one thing is really, REALLY wanted was a fish fossil, but I didn't receive that one in my kit. Regardless, all of them were intact and easily identifiable, and the information cards and booklet were fun to read and learn from. 5 stars all around! ... show more

This kit is incredible! We used for our fossil study for homeschool and it inspired a TON of inspiration among my kiddos! We found multiple ways to use it and the cards are a beautiful addition! Easy for my kids to read and great for matching up with the fossils after excavating them from kinetic sand! I feel this kit is a much better value over its competitors that come in excavation kits! First, Amazon sent to the wrong address, so I actually got to see the poor quality of this gift for my granddaughter. I’m returning it. Every one is the fossils are tiny and are not clear fossils. I feel like I bought a box of rocks. I did like that each came in an individual bag with an explanation of what each thing was supposed to be. The shark teeth were the best quality of the bunch. The box it came in was also well printed and looks impressive before you open it. My box was open when I got it. So, who knows if everything was inside. ... show more

This was much better than expected. My son has played with the kit for hours, matching the items to the chart, sorting them, etc. I bought this to use as filler in a pirate treasure chest, and the fossils were a bigger hit than the pirate gold and jewelry we put in there too.
