  • Fast, Accurate, Easy
Color: K1 SE
The Creality K1, K1C, and this K1 SE Early essentially the same printer with some minor differences. This is by far the best 3D printer I've ever owned and has been a breeze to print with. I can get it connected wirelessly and manage all my prints from my devices. I opted to also purchase the add-on camera which I will install later. Prints are fast, the adhesion has been great, and The quality of the printed objects has been phenomenal, the supports have also been really easy to remove. My only complaint is that the printer is silent when you turn it on, but after it finishes a print, there is a fan inside the machine that never shuts off and can get a little irritating. Also, since coming from an Elegoo printer, I miss the direct extrusion and the creality machine is a pain to load and unload. It wastes far too much filament getting it out of the tubing. All in all, this barebones system saves me $200 on what is essentially the same printer as the K1C. I won't be able to print carbon fiber, but that's a non-issue for me personally. This thing really was plug and play right out of the box. ... show more

  • Astoundingly good printer for the cost.
Color: Ender 3 V3 SE
I am absolutely amazed at the quality of this printer. I have 2 MakerGear M2s with upgraded Hotends (about $3K each when I bought them), and this Ender creates prints that are almost as clean. I bought this machine for my 14yo daughter to experiment with. She's been spending alot of time using the PRUSA printers in her schools Maker Space, and I want to encourage her to get deeper into it. There's a little learning curve with the included Slicer app (which is terrible), but once she figured out how to work with it, she was off and running. Supposedly, there's a way to directly connect it to a PC, but she's using the SD Card to sneaker-net the GCODE files from her computer to the Ender. Works fine. The attached Controller is easy to work with, and has enough settings available to manage prints reasonably well. The only complaint I have is that the Print Time Estimator algorithm is awful. Really innacurate. But, otherwise it's solid. In fact, we had a power failure 3 hours into a 10 hour print, and the controller recognized the unsheduled stop, and was able to resume printing with no visible artifacts on the objects. My MakerGears would freak if that happened. Additionally, I love the flexible magnetic bed. Popping finished prints off the bed is ridiculously easy. My M2s are glass, and can sometimes be a real PITA when removing prints. Seriously, you cannot find a better starter printer for 2x this price. ... show more

  • No Tech Support
Color: Ender 3 V3 SE
So what do you think someone new to a 3-D printer is apt to need the most of? Right.. tech support! And while the company that makes this one touts that they have plenty it just isn't true. What they have is spotty tech support in the middle of the night that they close at any time they wish and open any time they wish and if anyone gets the chance to read this I would say to you at Amazon that this aspect of a product like this is just as important as any other. If you publish this you would be doing users a great service. Now back to the review. The printer itself is not half bad. I has some bells and whistles that you might like and some are not present but the ones listed with it on the product page are certainly worth considering. Unfortunately I was not afforded the opportunity to test any since I was not able to make use of their tech support. If you buy one you may have a different experience. But one more warning before you buy this. Go on Google and type in the line "Is Creality Tech Support any good" and the most common answer you will see is "what tech support". Do that with a company such as Elegoo and you'll get a different response. ... show more

  • Extremely easy to use.
Color: Ender 3 K1
TLDR: This is a very easy to use 3D printer. I am mechanically and technically inclined so maybe I'm biased, but this was my first 3d printer and I got it working easily. I had three hiccups and resolved every one quickly. I'll explain those below for anyone that wants to know what the experience was like. There are some default settings that can be resolved with youtube and Reddit in a couple of minutes each. Don't panic if you hit a snag. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Experience: 1) The box is packed really well. Externally, it was beat up in shipping but when I opened it, everything appeared to be unscathed. Everything was padded or padded and wrapped in foam cutouts. 2) Although the instructions were mostly pictures, it was obvious which pieces belonged where. I only needed a moment or two to understand how the software worked and more importantly, why. YouTube and Reddit will help you a lot if you have questions. 3) I had three issues with my printer when trying to set it up. I resolved an alignment issue by simple observation and the other two with reddit. They were the following: Small and resolved problems: a) The upper assembly with the x & y axis didn't sit flush with the tops of the four extruded aluminum posts. There are brackets that screws fasten through, horizontally, with reference to the ground. Loosen the screws on the inside L-brackets to flush up the assembly. This helps with alignment and to eliminate introducing any mechanical racking/twisting. b) Auto home didn't move the bed up and down, only the carriage moved the x & y axis. A quick search shows a reddit thread where it's fixed by cleaning the excess grease between the threads and the bushing on the z-axis lead screw is. If your machine is off, just rotate the collar and clean the excess grease as the platform travels upward. If it's on, disable the steppers and then rotate the collar. Resolved. c) When trying to pre-heat the bed and nozzle, my machine would power cycle like the mother board was defective. A quick search lead to a different reddit thread about a voltage selector. What I didn't notice during assembly was that a red switched was recessed inside of the metal housing (left of power cord connector) that was set to 230v. I made sure the power switch was off and then I flipped it to 115v, then turned power on. Resolved.. Common themes I found by reading other people's posts about this printer: 1)This printer doesn't have a Bed leveling option in the menu like older models or like some of the videos and threads explain. It has an auto home function. Auto home simply aligns the x & y axis to the back right corner (if you're facing at the LCD) and then moves the bed up the z-axis until the limit switch is mechanically triggered. Then you are supposed to disable steppers and just manually slide the hot-end around as needed. You don't need to flash/update anything; you're not missing anything 2) Leveling the bed is also called tramming. This does not mean level to the ground. This means level or 'co-planar' to the hot-end nozzle. This made sense to be because of machinery that I have for woodworking but it seemed to come up a lot. Here it is for anybody that doesn't know: Your nozzle can place a thin bead of filament a fraction of a millimeter in diameter. Diameter is in reference to a circular or cylindrical object, so width is the same as hight when the object is on its side like a string. So then, if your nozzle is 2.0mm away from the bed surface on one corner and 0.5mm away from the bed surface on another corner, your printer is going to miss the target when trying to precisely place the bead of filament at an x-y coordinate. Alignment is important. To tram or to make co-planar makes a difference in your prints. Those last two probably belong in a reddit thread or at All3DP. Since I noticed a lot of people jump into this as a first printer and don't know, I figured I'd share and provide something here for SEO magic to find. ... show more
