  • Perfect for Ender 3 Pro!
Size: CR Touch
**** READ THIS IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES **** The install went easy on my Ender 3 Pro. Everything fits with no problems. I upgraded my Ender 3 Pro with a 4.2.7 silent board and color display and added the CR Touch. The CR Touch and BL Touch V3.1 use the newer single 5 pin connector design instead of the older BL Touch split connector version which used the 2 pin z-stop port and 3pin connectors on the motherboard. For the new single 5 pin connector design, DO NOT modify it! Keep reading! **** WARNING! **** Be careful which pre-compiled firmware you are using. The wrong firmware will behave as follows: with the z-stop removed and CR Touch installed, during auto-level the Z axis will not move down with any command, only up. If you leave the z-stop connected, it will drive the entire head into the bed and damage it when trying to auto-level! The CR Touch as well as the new v3.1 BL Touch use the single 5 pin connector. You will need to download the firmware from the Creality.com website directly, unless you wish to get the Marlin code and compile it yourself with all needed options. Make sure to look in the Ender 3 V2 category (if you upgraded to the color display) on Creality.com, even though you have an Ender 3 Pro, due to the color display compatibility requirement. If you are using the old 8bit screen, you can grab the files for the Ender 3 Pro instead. If you are using the wrong incompatible firmware for the color display, you will get a loud constant beep to alarm you. Now, how to "flash" the firmware? Easy! After downloading the appropriate *.bin file, copy it onto your SD card (if you downloaded a .zip file, extract first), then stick the SD card in the printer and power up. It will automatically load the new firmware. After that you can delete the *.bin from the SD card. For the BL/CR touch, the printer will create a *.dat file, leave that one alone on the SD card as it stores the Z offset settings. Setting Z offset is easy. Auto home, then move the Z Axis back to 0.0 position. Take a sheet of paper, lower head via the Z offset menu (not the move Z axis menu) until it grabs the paper as you were doing with manual bed leveling. Once you are satisfied with the grab, you are done. I recommend looking up a YouTube video on how to set that Z offset to make it easier and clearer. The last step is to update your slicers settings to add the G29 g-code command for auto-leveling after the G28 homing command. Each time you generate your g-code, it will include this command and tell the printer to automatically level each time you start a print. ... show more

  • Thought I didn't need this, but happy I purchased it!
Size: CR Touch
Installing this on the Ender 3 was easy, no problem, however getting it setup took some digging into. Needed to watch a couple of Youtube videos to grasp the concept but once I did understand setting the Y axis and totally disabling the old Y axis switch (I removed it all together) and setting the nozzle distance, then it all came together and now I added the code to Cura so it runs it routine before every print. It does a great job, better than I ever though it could!! I was a post it note guy who was quite fast at leveling but this is really the way to go! Very happy with it and have been using it for a while now! ... show more

  • Make sure to check compatibility
Size: CR Touch
This is not compatible with all ender 5 boards!!! The V1 boards do not have the extra connectors, as we discovered the hard way. So, couldn't use it, but it was very sturdy and I would expect it does the job well. Just be sure and do your homework to make sure it will work with your specific setup.

  • Replacement
Size: CR Touch
I goofed and started a print without clearing the plate. The original caught the leftover item and snapped. No amount of repair or printed design would fix the original. The nice thing is this replacement didn't require any adjustments to Z or any re-wiring. Just be careful not to make the mistake I did. ... show more

  • Works great, awesome upgrade
Size: CR Touch
My bed leveling method had always been to print a square, then watch the corners and turn the knobs to get an even sploosh. Well this upgrade is so much better. I don't even measure the z offset anymore, just start printing and adjust it while the first layer goes down. If you watch the z axis steppers, you'll see them turn ever so slightly while it's doing the first layer. Perfect sploosh every time, well worth it. Save your Z axis stop!! There's a file on thingiverse that lets you turn it into a filament sensor so you can do a single print with multiple partial rolls. ... show more

  • Hopefully the firmware doesn't brick your printer
Size: CR Touch
I bought this item and the instructions weren't great so I watched a video. Got the sensor installed no problem. Light comes on in the sensor, no problem. Now to flash the firmware. And this is where things took a turn for the worse. Good luck finding the right firmware. You have to dig around on the site a bit to find it and when you do, that one probably won't work. Down the rabbit hole I go until I finally find one that works. It's the official Marlin update for CR or BL touch. So we finally find it and get it installed on the printer. Changed the whole set up and word usage on some parts of the menu but okay. It now shows bilateral leveling. Perfect. We set it to autohome. Error message. Printer freezes and says we need to restart it. We do that and try again. Same outcome. Several more tries. Same outcome. So now we try just printing something to see what happens. It seems to work. It seems to work really well actually. It spews out that line on the bed that it always does. It goes to start printing and it freezes. Nothing works on the console. We restart, we try again. Same outcome. You get where this is going. So now I have a printer that will not print. Do some digging on the internet. Turns out this is a common problem. So far, no good fixes have been found. My printer is now a brick. Currently waiting for customer service to get back to work so I can call and try and find a solution. Will update review accordingly. ... show more
