  • Great big attractive case
Size: RGB Style: Mid-Tower
Completed my build a few weeks back and couldn't be happier w/ the Cosair Obsidian 500 D RGB case. It was bigger than I thought it would be. It is called a mid-tower but compared to a few Dell computers I've had in the past it is equivalent in size to their full towers. Loads of room, honestly I'll ever fill this case. The roominess made installing everything very easy. It is somewhat brawny looking and I like that. Very well constructed, attractive, and well packed for shipping. The smoky glass looks great and the RGB lights are mesmerizing. The glass doors on both sides open fully and are easily removed to allow work in the case. I did install two extra Corsair fans in the top and it was pretty easy. There is great ventilation and the inside of the case remains cooler than my air conditioned house. Because of the size, wire management is excellent, a lot of options built in for this. I installed an MSI z790 ATX Carbon Blue Tooth motherboard and it was a perfect fit. RGB CPU fan also fit perfectly. The only down side is Corsair's light management ICUE software doesn't play well w/ MSI Mystic Light and the MSI MB so you'll have to choose one or the other app and even then it takes regular fiddling to keep the RGBs synced and functioning how you want them: minor inconvenience. Absolutely no other gripes. I would purchase this again. ... show more

  • Drop Dead Case! Recommend for beginners like myself! (Obsidian 500D RGB)
Size: RGB Style: Mid-Tower
The media could not be loaded. I just recently bought my friends computer, as I was in the market and he happened to be selling his for personal reasons. My Previous setup was more than 6 years old, and I had never built/swapped a computer before (would always buy full prebuilt). This is what I got from him. - MSI Pro Gaming m5 z370 Mobo - MSI GTX 1070ti - 16gb Corsair Vengeance Ram - 850W Gold Semi-Modular EVGA PSU - Deep Rock 3 CPU Cooler All in a Thermaltake core v71 case... Honestly the case he provided was more than sufficient and is a really nice case, you can look it up on amazon, but I personally did not like the case, so I looked at a ton of different cases, not only to fit the components he has built on, but one to look nice, then I found this case here. I did a lot of research on cases, and pricing them out and it was between this one and the DarkFlash Phantom case... After reading tons of reviews about the cases, the fans, etc, I chose to go with this case...andI couldn't be more happy! The case is a little more on the pricey side, but I would urge you to compare fan prices and quality, along with the commander pro and lighting link that it comes with. Compare that with Thermaltake or fitting out an empty case with 6 fans+ and you're probably around the same price or more expensive. Onto the case... It came very well packed, no issues with the case quality or components... The commander pro was very slightly adhered to the side of the case, but with a small tug it came right off. With no idea what I was doing, I was able to swap out the components of my old case, to this one in 5 hours (I know, it's a long time). With knowledge, this would honestly take maybe an hour. I purchased an extra LL series fan for the back exhaust, and I also purchased an AIO cooler (Corsair Hyrdro H1150i with 2 ML fans) I had to go inside the computer a couple of times to clean up the cables, but I blame my own lack of understanding cable management and computers in general to that part. After the 3rd time of going in and rewiring a couple of things, I couldn't be more happy with how the case performs and what it looks like. It really was the last piece I needed to pull my "nerd"center together! I could go on and on about the case but I will break it down into bullet points the pros and cons... Pros: - Beautiful case - Durable/heavy with quality materials used for construction - 3 front fans preinstalled - Comes with Commander Pro and Lighting Link for fans - Easy to remove glass side panels/opens very easy - Easy cable management, especially for beginners - Comes with all the hardware you need (minus tools) - Mobo standoffs built into case - Probably missing more pros, but I think I got the major ones Cons: - Some tight spaces to configure some of the wires (probably to be expected with any case) - PSU bay can be tight and a little tedious to get all the cables into, a bigger PSU than mine may struggle - Not the greatest instructions/manual comes with the case All in all, I would recommend this case to anyone looking to get a lot of RGB and an amazing looking final product, if you are patient enough. I would also recommend to beginners like myself either building or swapping to a new case. As a side note, I have the 3 front fans as intake, and the back and top radiator fans as exhaust (so 3 and 3), here are my temps... IDLE: GPU: 40c-45c CPU: 30c-35c Under Load (no overclock): GPU: 69c steady CPU: 45c up to a spike of 62c once I hope this helps people in deciding which will be their next case. Can't recommend it enough! ... show more

  • Fairly Solid Case - With a few issues
Size: RGB Style: Mid-Tower
Got the case early by a day or two (not a guarantee). It's a rather spacious case. Way more spacious than I originally thought. The brushed aluminum, and fairly clear, but not completely see-through, tempered glass is really nice to look at. Good airflow throughout the case (I bought 3 more fans to fill the top and rear spots). You can feel the air going into the front of the case with it's about 1 inch or so gap. I can feel the cool air that is being pulled from the front and not recirculated due to the top and back fans pushing the air out. Very easy design to install the other fans. They are on a plate that is thumb screwed directly into the chassis. Easy to unscrew and put back into place. Cable routing is where it got a little more complicated. Being as I have 6 fans total to keep everything cool, the cable routing was a bit of pain to keep tight enough to close the back panel (without the included cover for the cables). I was able to get it closed with the cable channel cover, but had to kind of force it due to not having custom cables. I would very highly recommend buying custom cables when buying this case. It would definitely help with getting the cable channel cover on more easily. I couldn't use the type-C USB (explained in "Pros and Cons section") Other than those little issues I had, the case is fantastic. If you don't really need a lot of I/O, then this case is a good buy. It has plenty of room for upgrading to bigger components later on, and even water-cooling in the future, if you're in to that. Pros: 1. Very nice looking case. 2. Very spacious inside. 3. Easy installation of components and fans. 4. Good or fairly decent airflow throughout the case. 5. Spaciousness is great for larger upgrades (including water-cooling later on) Cons: 1. Cable management is a bit tough with too much cabling (recommend getting custom cables for a better experience). 2. HDD cage is not covered by the power supply shroud (I have an m.2, so not an issue for me, but might be for those who DO have a HDD). 3. Not much I/O (I can't even use the type-C USB due to my motherboard not having a USB 3.0 connector. Looking to upgrade motherboards anyway.) ... show more
