  • This has been mostly pretty great. Included driver bits are ..... not so great.
Style: 1 Battery Drill Drivers
So let me start off by saying this little drill has pretty good torque and you can use it to drill or to screw into wood more or less anything you may want to use it for.... but Ill keep going and explain some things I noticed good and bad. A REALLY Good thing... it feels nice it has power enough for a household drill... I would not use this for professional work unless it was my "truck drill" or I used drills and such occasionally in my profession- like if you're in IT and you may need it to assemble stuff in racks or you may want it for just hose occasional uses ... but it has some downsides. First is- it charges off a very light duty simple AC adapter which plugs into the battery in a hole near where the drill interfaces- it almost feels like an afterthought. The batteries themselves are of course kind of ... well... who knows how youll find them and how long they'll last in terms of how many years or power cycles til they run down. This is a cheap drill and HALF the price of it is probably the battery given what the battery by itself seems to cost. The casing may not hold up to impacts all that well but Ive had NO issues, Ive been using it HEAVILY since I got it since I needed a part for an older reliable corded drill I usually use and needed something in the meantime and to make life easier in general... and this has been fine for that. Now let me tell you about a couple BAD things ive been through with it . First one is- Ive had the chuck get STUCK. So though I know it sounds like its messy and smelly- when you get this drill, open the chuck all the way up. spray WD40 in there , tighten and loosen the chuck all the way down and all the way back out again a few times, spray more WD40 in it.. get it nice and coated. Make sure it isnt going to seize up, then dry it off and wipe it down. I used it normally and the chuck locked down on a bit and would NOT release under my own twisting or the ful strength of the drill itself while held down and unable to turn.... the chuck was absolutely frozen. I had to put the drill chuck part you turn in a vise and turn the drill itself to break it free- and it took some doing. I WD40s the hell out of it after that- and no more issues- but I marred the plastic breaking it free so now its only a cosmetic flaw but it was avoidable i feel- so I am saying this to help others- especially because if you arent near a vise and this happens you are OUT OF LUCK and cant change bits. When my battery ran out, it did it like... out of nowhere. I used the drill a good bit, it had 3 bars of charge (there is a button on the battery to check) then two. Then suddenly in the middle of driving a screw... it just stopped. I do not think the battery life is on par with like a makita or a porter cable or similar but again- for the price? Get yourself another battery and you wont have to worry, they do last a good while no worries it wont die 10 fasteners in but its a predictability issue- it didnt seem to me the meter was actually very useful, other than when its down to 2 out of 3 bars you know you should charge it because youre not topped off. The drill comes with two combination driver bits mounted TO the drill in recesses on either side above the handle - This would be SUPER convenient and makes this drill VERY useful for driving fasteners out of the box...... however..... These bits are made of "Chinesium" and are very... very Soft. Because of the inherent beefiness of the design of flat head bits they work pretty well for anything you may need a flat head bit for.... the Phillips (cross head) bits are .. well you try them and you tell me. Its not a deal breaker but since these come with it , there are two and they fit TO the drill like there are holes to hold them I hope I can find other similar ones that will fit this crevice because the ones I have the philips are mostly rounded out. DEPENDING on the philips screws youre driving and what youre driving them in to..... if youre using this to drive philips screws occasionally like into drywall, or soft woods maybe they will hold up, if youre using it to drive philips screws into pre drilled like furniture during assembly or something I think it would work fine. If youre using it for things like commercial or heavier duty stuff or youre trying to drive many fasteners into wood or you may be at a slight angle sometimes- its going to slip and its going to round out. They are not durable bits. They are bit-shaped pieces of soft metal. They can work, and for light household use will work- but if you USE them and use them as tools, they will strip. This is a bit problem and not a drill problem. I beat the HELL out of the chuck trying to break it free I feel- and it didnt hurt it at all- so the chuck and drill drive itself both seem good in my opinion. i have not installed or used the included clip I cant review it, I have not used the included drill bits- but be careful and do not use them in something they may break off inside and ruin or use them on anything precious - thats my opinion and maybe I am wrong but lets be honest ... a bunch of random loose drill bits in a plastic bag included with an off brand drill? Careful. ... show more

  • Replaced a $75 Black & Decker
Style: 1 Battery Drill Drivers
The problem with rechargeable-battery tools is that eventually, the battery no longer holds (or takes) a charge. That's what happened with my expensive Black & Decker. To buy a new battery pack cost twice as much as this new drill did. I really like it - it's smaller in size, so lighter and easier to handle - but it's got WAY more power than my old B&D did. Seems a shame to have to throw out the old one though - what a waste and not very ecologically sound. Plus the old battery packs will need to go to a special disposal place. I wish they still made corded drills - I still have one of my dad's that was probably made in 1960 and it works great. ... show more
