I bought this Coolibar sun shawl for a Florida vacation, primarily as sun protection - I am light-skinned and freckled, have photosensitivity from a medical condition and more photosensitivity from medication - but I ended up using it as much more. I first used it as a blanket on the airplane, then as cover for my legs sitting out on the sun porch and at the pool. In the evening it was a warm and stylish wrap. It folds pretty compactly so I could fit it in my bag and take it out whenever needed. It is machine wash and dry and washes well. The fabric is sufficiently heavy to block the sun, but it doesn't feel particularly hot. Given its size, quality and versatility, I thought the price was reasonable. I liked the first shawl so much that I bought a second one. The first, in bright pink, was for a trip to the beach. It worked great as a warm wrap on the plane, as a light blanket, as a beach towel, and cool sun protection. Sand shook right off of it, and it dried quickly. This navy shawl was a topper for a sleeveless dress at a wedding. It was dressy and a warm wrap in the overly air conditioned reception hall. I have been looking for a long, light weight wrap for travel. I have broad shoulders so I need something very long to wrap around me. I read the other reviews and bought this one. I am thrilled. It is very lightweight and rolls up tightly. Perfect for a carry on. It is very long and wide, so it can double has a blanket on the plane or a shawl at an elegant dinner. I have 2 of these shawls to throw on over outfit with less coverage. It is light weight and easy to fold up without wrinkling. It is longer than most shawls which allows more coverage but it does hang if not worn across the torso.

I got I got this to be a universal sun coverage garment. Seemed like the most economical way to incorporate Coolabar in my life. I live in an extremely hot place and got melanoma before the age of 40 so I need something effective and cool. I love this shawl. I can wear it with anything and it's cool to the touch. It's big enough to cover my neck shoulders arms, anything I need it to. I just wear tank tops and drape this over me for sun protection and modesty at work. It's muuuuuuuch cooler than wearing a long sleeve sgirt. In the winter it makes a cozy scarf. The fabric is cool when you need it to be and warm when you need it to me. It's miraculous. ... show more

I love this scarf! It was a perfect accessory to traveling Italy through the hot days. I never burned despite being out in the sun, in Rome, on 100 degree sunny days. It can also be used as a small blanket on the plane to keep you warm. Paris was cooler and it definitely helped keep me warm. The color fit all my outfits and was extremely versatile. The scarf itself is super soft and comfortable. I washed and dried it like normal and it retained it's length, shape, and softness.
