RC cars have become very popular, and you can spend more money to get a more sophisticated version, but this car is pretty well equipped for the price. You get 2 speeds, rubber tires (important) and the lights come on. You can even adjust the alignment so it tracks straight! Depending on how rough your kid (or adult) plays with it, it may not last forever, but then no plastic toy does. You will need 2-AA batteries for the remote control, but otherwise it is ready to go. The small screws and plastic tabs for battery covers mean some adult supervision is advisable. It would be better if you could charge a battery in the car, instead of having to switch out the batteries (it comes with 2) so you can charge 1 while using the other one. If you could charge a battery in the car, and if it didn't have small, very 'lose-able' screws, it would have been 5 stars for me. ... show more

This little guy moves out. We took it over to the abandoned airport and put the pedal to the medal. We ran this one against a more expensive Tamiya model and it held its own and performed very well. It has a life for about 60 minutes. Suspension recovered the vehicle like a pro. Well done Carox!

This is not an adult remote control car but for kids 6+ as advertised it is perfect. Remote takes two AA batteries and the car comes with two USB rechargeable batteries so you'll always have one ready to go. The remote works off of a simple trigger pull switch. Pull it the car goes forward, push it, the car goes backwards. The steering is done with a little steering wheel on the remote. The steering feels different from higher end remotes as it is either straight, right, or left. There is no turning the wheels more or less one way or another. I thought this was a flaw but this is actually a great way to do it for the kids it is intended for. The car's price is $49 which is overpriced in my opinion but if you can catch the 40% off coupon like it shows today then it is a good buy. I deducted one star due to the battery cable in the car is so short it makes it very hard to connect the battery. ... show more

This is a wildly fun R/C car. It is very very fast and has a very long battery life. It has been launched off of curbs and still is running great. It can be a bit of a learning curve to handle but even our youngest kids were able to do pretty well after some practice. This remote controlled off-road vehicle comes with two batteries so you can always have a backup in case the battery dies. The car looks cool and runs fast. I especially like its ability to adjust speed. The tire traction is good so my kid can really go off-roading with this remote controlled toy car. It runs well on grass, hard to semi-hard surface. We have a growing collection of RC cars that usually come out during family get togethers. I ordered this car to let the younger kids play with and maybe the adults if it was good enough. I really don't know where this car actually lands because there are issues that come up for both groups. At this price point I expect an RC car to deliver in certain areas because it is moving beyond the cheap throwaway cars that you get for young kids. There are several areas that this car needs improvement but before that let me say that this car is rather small, especially for one that you are asking $50 for. They give you two speed options which you change with the button on the side. At the slower speed its good for younger kids to use to get the hang of RCs, quick but not unmanageable. At the higher speed setting it is fairly quick however its also hard to control because it wants to spin out right away, especially on hardwood and indoor concrete floors. The problem is that there is no graduated speed control, its all or nothing which could be challenging to kids or newbies. This same all or nothing issue happens with the steering as well, you have no slight turning, its either straight ahead or its turning as far as the wheel goes. At the higher speed these issues can make it very challenging especially when you combine them with the light weight of the car. When you take it out on the street or another large hard surface, it takes off and flies pretty good but bounces and loses control if there is any uneven surfaces or the smallest obstructions like a small stick. As far as off-roading goes, it's not really the best other than hard packed dirt because its only a two-wheel rear drive and doesn't have a lot of clearance; this also makes it no like going into the grass. If you have a big open flat and hard space you or the kids might like spinning around and such but after a while when everyone else is cruising around, this one might bet set aside. This car would be more competitive and worth purchasing for half the cost but as it is, you decide. ... show more
