I was nervous to make candles, always wanted to but thought it would be hard. This kit however made it extremely easy! I purchased candle dyes to make different colors and used yogurt OUI glass jars to pour the wax into. I measured 1 and a half cups for the OUI jars and that capped out almost perfectly (had to dump just a little leftover into the trash but if I had been motivated enough I could have made a tiny tealight candle with the leftover (but that would be challenging due to such small size ) I read several reviews about this product before ordering it and was hesitant to order due to so many comments about the wick going out fast and candle wax tunneling into a small column not ever really using most of the candle. That was not the case maybe it was the type of containers I used for the wax (Oui yogurt jars) but mine came out wonderfully and burned just fine and did not tunnel. The scent isn't that great I would recommend trying to add scents later after you get comfortable with the making of candles for the first few times but I imagine it wouldn't be that tough to add. It does not come with a thermometer so if you really want to be anal about temperatures etc then purchase a candy thermometer that is said to work well based on other reivews I read. Happy creating! Pros: + Comes with everything* needed to start making candles. (*must supply own candle-safe containers and thermometer, as well as any scents or dyes desired.) + Pouring pot and spoon material quality is promising. + The wick stickers stick well when pouring and come off easily for container reuse. + Comes with plenty of wicks and stickers. + Inexpensive. Cons: - Missing any semblance of instructions. - Proportion of supplies. (Wax vs wicks/stickers.) - No information on the wax other than that it's soy. (Melt point, pour temp, max fragrance load.) - No information on the wicks other than that they lack lead/zinc. (Maximum candle diameter.) - Spoon is too short to safely stir a hot container, and too narrow to scoop wax for weighing. - Pouring pot design makes it difficult to clean and the handle makes it unsafe to use for long/larger batches. - No scents or dyes. Takeaway: This should probably be advertised as a tealight candle kit. The kit comes with enough wax for 20 tealight candles and enough wicks/stickers for 50. However, this is a CONTAINER candle kit which both lacks containers and information on which containers are appropriate for use. Thankfully the wax/wick combination works great for a 2" diameter metal tin, which is what I initially used a portion of my limited wax supply on. Given the absolute lack of information and inability to start making candles with nothing more than this kit and common household equipment (unless you're lucky when it comes to spare containers,) it'd be easy to give this product one star, but the quality of the pouring pot and the wick stickers have slightly redeemed this kit. ... show more

I love this all natural kit. It had everything I needed to make candles naturally and it came out perfectly. I'm so glad I got this and now I will only need to get more soy flakes because it came with a lot of wicks and tools are very sturdy and will last a long time.

The soy wax itself has a mellow scent- it's "unscented" but the natural smell of it is pleasant enough. I added some scented oil to make it more fragrant, but if you don't like scented candles, this is good. Took 1 star off because the first wick broke out of the base on the first candle I poured. The melting pot is also a little light, so it tried to float to a weird angle in the boiling water. But everything was just as described. You get waaaaaaay more wicks than you need for the amount of wax you receive. Overall a good purchase for beginners or curious crafters wanting to try something new. ... show more

    • The wax and wicks dont match
Size: 550ml pot candle making kit
I'm a beginner candle maker and I've been reading a bunch on candle making. I tested out this candle making kit by heating up the provided wax in the metal tin as instructed. I did not add any color or scent, I just poured it into an old (cleaned) candle jar with one of the wicks provided. the candle came out looking pretty good. Once I lit it however, I saw what a lot of other reviewers noted. The wax pool was not very big. This wick size would be good for a 1.5-2in diameter candle. Thats fine, I put it in a larger candle to test that and I can always add more wicks to larger containers. I also found that the tin being all metal was too hot to hold without an oven mitt while pouring. - The reason for the 2 star rating is that once lit, the wick started mushrooming. Thats when the top of the wick appears larger than the bottom of the wick (like a mushroom). I did some googling and found that this happens when the wax doesn't melt fast enough for the wick. This issue is solved by changing using the correct wick type for the type of wax you have (paraffin vs soy, etc). This means the provided wicks and wax do not go together. ... show more
