Just say putting this together, wow, talk about just tons and tons of parts!! Think there has to be well over 300. But the instructions are good, just be sure you read each step and what part to use, then read it 2 or 3 more times before you start that step, will save your self a lot of time not having to go back and unscrew something!----Is so easy miss that you need a different part for the next step even with it looking like the same thing. Just plan on a good full day of work. I will recommend very much you have some sort of table or workbench to elevate and work from, trust me, your back will say thank you the next day! I love this desk so, so much. It’s my “big girl” desk that I bought for myself to prepare for grad school, but I also have room to sprawl out my work. I was able to set up the desk and the hutch by myself, although I will say it was a challenge and I wish I had recruited my husband to help. It would have gone quicker, but it got done. The only irritation I have with this desk is that one of the drawers doesn’t close all the way, and I’m pretty sure that’s just an error on my part that needs to be fixed one of these days. Just read what you are buying. It's $500 not $5000. It's not solid wood, it's not sturdy as a rock, but it looks GREAT IF, key word IF you hire someone to build it. It comes in 3 HUGE Boxes full of parts. I hired a professional (Key advice, book by the project not the hour). It WILL Take him 4+ hours and that is with power tools and no break. A novice may take all day or longer. So go into it knowing you'll pay to assemble. It looks perfect. Angies list handy men can do it for $100-150 bucks. No problem. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Liked: it arrived early and all parts were here. The color is nice and the actual desk itself is pretty nice. The instructions were super easy to follow. Dislikes: there are about 300 pieces to building this unit or more. The time to build this is not worth it. The hutch is completely bowed and only noticeable when you put it up on the desk. So you will spend an hour or two building just the hutch and when you get it up, it is super bowed. I did get a discount from Amazon because the hutch was so badly bowed, but the amount received is not enough to buy a new one. The reason I didn’t get a replacement as offered by Amazon, was because they wanted me to disassemble the hutch, somehow get it back in that thin packaging, and return the item along with the other two massive boxes that come along with it. This is an item that is made to be as is after assembly and almost impossible to disassemble without destroying it. It is particle board. The back has about 70 screws alone in it. Most had to be nailed in because the screws were so thin, you couldn’t screw them in. To take that down, the entire thing would be damaged. The manufacturer has yet to respond to my email when I notified them immediately after noticing the defects. It’s been 5 days already. I notified them before Amazon so that they maybe could just send me a new hutch. The cabinet on the hutch sits about a quarter of an inch below the shelf below it blocking the two middle cubby holes. Put much smaller stuff in there. It took hours in 3 days to complete. A total of about 10 hours. Pay for expert assembly and make sure it’s not bowed before you sign or spend the extra money elsewhere to get a more solid desk. I will use my hutch until it sags so much I can’t which will likely be in a month or so. Day one of using it, there is a scratch where I use my keyboard. 🙄 definitely NOT scratch resistant as claimed. IF YOU PURCHASE, YOU NEED AN ELECTRIC SCREW DRIVER! ALSO, NAIL IN THE SCREWS FOR THE BACKS AS YOU CANNOT SCREW THEM IN! ... show more

I am using this desk at home, for mostly personal use, and for a part-time remote job. My husband, a retired contractor, assembled the L-shaped unit without issues, but complained that some of the materials were not the best quality, especially the light-weight back panels. I like the shelves and slots, and door-covered storage areas. The file drawer is adequate for home files (I only keep current working files for a year at a time in the desk). I have a four-drawer lateral file for extra storage, and the one file drawer would not be adequate for more than about 20-30 file folders. Hanging folders work well (8.5 x 11). I am not a huge fan of the slots under the desk top, because they are long, but not very deep. I did find two plastic containers with lids to slide into them to hold small office supplies, etc. The door storage on the desk bottom is probably meant for a CPU, which I don't have, but an optional shelf would have been very welcomed. I put a cardboard file storage box in there for now, holding work files. I was needing more work space, and this desk delivered that well! The main desk part (without the hutch on it in my configuration), is deep enough for my large monitor (25 inch diagonal), a large laptop (17 inch Dell), a large Logitech wireless keyboard with wrist support, a wireless mouse and pad, and small wireless speaker. the hutch side of the desk is not as deep, but easily holds my Macbook (14 inch diagnonal), and desk light, standing file, pen holder, etc. The back wall of the hutch is a great place for my numerous sticky notes! I would buy it again, even though I am not crazy of the light blonde color. I would have preferred a more oak tone color, but this one was available while waiting only about three weeks for shipping and delivery. Many others were backordered for many weeks or months.
