This is just a components review: ~This is the base game with cardboard pieces but the game mat is made out of fabric. ~Overall thin box with a sliding inner box that slides in and out of the top of the outside game box. ~All small token pieces have enough bags to be stored individually . ~there is enough sleeves to fit background and rule cards. ~all of the transparent paint cards fit in the smaller storage box but I’m not sure if it will fit all of the cards if combined with other two expansions. ~inner box gives a spot for where to place game components ~whole box with components can be hung like an actual piece of art Beautiful components although it would have been nice to have the wooded kickstarter pieces I think the solid cardboard tokens are enough. Only gripe is that the inner box doesn’t have dividers to split components so they rattle all over the place but over all a great looking game and center piece! Game review in process- ... show more

This is a terrific and unique entry level game that can, however, be enjoyed by a wide variety of gamers. The rules are simple; but, the decisions can drive you crazy. Perfect. My wife of 47 years, a wonderful sketch artist in her own right, has begun to find gaming difficult due to Lyme and fibromyalgia. I bought this game based on its theme and what I learned of its game play through several videos. I thought if anything might bring her back to the table, this might. I was right. And, again, it's all because the game play is simple, the scoring is simple; but, the game does challenge with the occasional frustrating demands for choice . . . . Do I lose this to gain this? What will give me the most bang for my buck; the most points in the long run? And, a bonus for us: a pair of well designed solo variants that allow us to sit down and play as a team against "Vincent" who is merely there to steal possibly valuable cards away just when we knew we wanted that one. And, did I mention how unique the transparent cards are to game play? All-in-all, we're enjoying Canvas. ... show more

My family loves board games and we play a lot of them. This one is a standout. It's fun to play, easy to learn, the strategy can get deep and complex, the setup and breakdown is pretty quick/painless and it's never the same game twice. It's got the amazing, whimsical art of Dixit, the layering translucent cards for (VP optimization) of Gloom or Mystic Vale, and the wordless abstract strategy element of Azul. Cannot recommend highly enough. Can't wait for some expansions. ... show more

    • How To Be An Artist Without Being An Artist
The game Canvas is unique and fun to play. Each person in a two player mode have to create three different "paintings" by placing the see-through credit card thick plastic card with an artwork painting like a child holding balloons in combination to two other cards that form a work of art even with its own title. Scoring depends on what symbols are represented on each of your three works of art. The Art Cards are fun to explore and see how each part of a painting will influence the overall painting the player will display and score points from. This is a beautiful and easy to learn game. Most people are upset that Kickstarter pieces are not included but most do not realize that this game is usually only available on Kickstarter for R2i games. While those pieces are nice, they do not make this game, the art and details do. If you want more games like those follow roadtoinfamy, you will not be disappointed. ... show more

Was a bit challenging to learn, but once you get it, you get it! The art cards and all the parts are really beautiful and well made. This was recommended by a friend who is obsessed with board games, so I took his word for it and am not sorry. The game is different every time you play based on which cards you choose. They determine what your goals will be for that particular game. It won’t get old since the object is always different! ... show more

    • This is an amazing game, disappointed with the seller
If you are looking for a puzzle game that is very simple to follow, very easy to learn, has a touch of some brain burning mechanics and is relatively short, this is worth the buy. It is an amazing game. This is NOT the Kickstarter edition that is says in the title. You with NOT get the paint stands and wooden tokens. I would have still purchased the game but seeing the title of the product say Kickstarter and not getting Kickstarter items is a bit deceiving to the customer. Reading the reviews, seems I am not the only one and the seller should really remove that “Kickstarter” word from the title of the game. If you want to get the stands and wooden tokens, you can buy them separately but I would suggest going to your local craft store for the paint stands, much cheaper. The wooden tokens would be nice but the tokens you get are some thick cardboard pieces, so you should be fine and get the same feeling as you wood with wooden tokens. ... show more
