I purchased this phone because I watched some reviews and I wanted to try it out. I'm glad I did......I received the device and I was really impressed that the phone already had a screen protector preinstalled. I'd also like to add, that this device has a little weight to it. It's build quality seems to be very well made. Second, is the phone also came with the 120w charging brick, usb C cable and TPU case. I powered it up and got all signed in to Google, then I went to YouTube to play some music.......Now, first and foremost I want to mention that I remember when HTC M series phones had the best audio experience back in the day. However, this phone has got to have the best damn sounding speakers on a modern phone I've ever heard! It's like its own little boom box! This phone will blow you away with the sound quality and volume it can produce. I'm extremely impressed and I can't stress that enough. So media consumption is on another level. With regards to the camera, I'd like to say that I'm not trying to run a photo studio from my phone. Just as long as the phone can take good photos, then I'm good. Which it seems to do. The Miui software skin has all kinds of adjustments on this phone. So if you want to play with the settings, there are plenty there to personalize it, so adjust until your heart's content. I feel that battery life could be a bit better, but I'm only on day one so the phone is still learning. I did go in and turn the refresh rate from auto down to 60hz and other adjustments to help with power consumption. Basically castrating the poor device....lol! Call quality on the T-Mobile network is very good as well. I have no complaints. Pages load as fast as any 5g phone. The side gaming buttons are extended or retracted by the release switches. The also can be assigned functions within the UI. There's so much to list and love about this device. So far I'm really enjoying the phone. It's only $150 more than the Moto edge 2022 I have and this phone blows it out of the water! So far it's totally worth it. If that $150 is just a bridge too far to cross, then I'd go with the Black Shark 5. (non pro version). The only real difference between the PRO and the BS5 is the BS5 has the SD870 chip, a slightly different display, and the audio quality isn't quite as good as the PRO. Still a nice device at $499 tho. I'll go out on a limb and say this is probably the best phone of 2022. Flagship specs and sound to boot. Totally worth the $$$ spent. If your on the fence about buying this device, don't be. If you're anything like me and consume a lot of content, then you want this phone! 👍👍 Will check back in and edit this review if there's anything new to report. ... show more

    • Good and bad. Mostly Bad
Ok so here is my honest opinion about this phone without venting and solely on my own experience and recommendation at the end. Note: I only use this phone for CODM i dont know how it may function on other games: 1- DO NOT buy this phone thinking it will be your main phone. I strongly recommend not to make the choice of making this your main phone and this is why: Unless your country is fully sellling Xiaomi phones. I live in L.A California and confirm with support they DO NOT offer any repair locations in the U.S so if you break the screen or something happens to your phone your are pretty much done which then leads me to my other second red flag: 2-Warranty is not honored unless you buy the phone in their website. You may return it to amazon ONLY if its deemed as a factory defect however, after two months, Black shark support is pretty much one guy named "Jason" (FAKE NAME) trying to dance around the question via email and mostly copy and paste generic answers. If you ask about warranty, they will tell you they can't confirm purchase (if purchase through amazon) and will referred you to amazon but if you contact amazon after two months they will referrer you to them where you get the same scripted answers and no help (See where i am going?) 3-Unlike Samsung, App;e. Google. and even XIOAMI, black shark while using a XIOAMI version they WILL NOT send you the phone's STOCK ROM. Xiaomi does offer this option and is avaialble for other versions but you WILL NOT FIND the Black shark 5 ANYWHERE in ANYWEBSITE and Xiaomi confirmed with me that Black Shark took over on this phone and they do no longer provide this to the public which means two things if your stock ROM FILES are get corrupted (SOFTWARE) and factory reset doesnt fix the issue: You are stuck with the corrupted software AND you CANT ROOT your phone -You cant use XIAOMI MI UNLOCK TOOL on black shark and black shark WILL NOT SEND YOU THE UPDATE TRUST ME AFTER MONTHS OF TRYING emails go aroud the question or without response. 3-No updates for a very long time. Xiaomi is known for not providing software updates which means if there are general glitches that required fixed by doing an update. Good luck which leads me to the next MAJOR RED FLAG: 4- Will it work in your area? ITS A RISK. YES ...... AND NO.... Depending... Mine started getting errors trying to verify the SIM Card and sometimes it keeps returning as unable to recognize the SIM Card, yet it will still work and sometimes it won't. I have T-Mobile fyi. You will be surprised of the respond i got from them: "We are aware of the sim card and connection issues happening to some and depending on the area but i strongly suggest and im not supposed to say this, but you should exercise your warranty" HE LITERALLY SAID THAT and wait for it....... when i asked if he can help me initiate the process..... He responded days later saying "THATS AMAZON YOU HAVE TO GO WITH" but as i refence in point number two, amazon only refunds or replaces the item within two months so practically speaking. You only have warranty with amazon for two months. ON A NEW PHONE!!!!!! THATS CRAZY -Now the device..... its good but heavly customize and restricted. YOU CANT DO A LOT OF THINGS as you do with other phones. BLACK SHARK and Xiaomi in general act as if they were apple, forcing you to do what they think is best for you eliminating the whole android experience. Their security app activates their Battery optimization and several gaming features get disable even after you disable battery optimization, this app has several others app that activated on their on AND you cant revoke this at all. -The phone gets hot but not that much -great gaming mode and several great and fun options it feels like cheating but again, pray to god you dont get a random glitch. Sometimes the game hud get kinda of off in terms of maping -Phone zooms in more in games and you can tell the left and the right of the screen are cut off which makes it hard to play sometimes unpredictable movements -Great for the price but with a high riks of buying purchase at your own choice I preferred to pay a bit more and went back to Red MAGIC only throught their original store and not amazon because of rude amazon customer service who ignore you and your feedback and the whole unable to verify purchase was kinda weird to me. Also, it appears this version its actually the Black shark 4 but with a black shark 5 as google will not recognize my device as Black shark 5 but 4 instead however some other systems will recognize it as the 5. Weird and honestly sketchy. I think Amazon Black shark official store is licensed out to a 3rd party vendor FYI. ... show more

This phone is excellent for gaming & works good with TMobile in Ohio. Coming from a Black Shark 2 that still works great, the graphics & sounds are amazing.

    • Good specs. Little to no game support for gamer buttons.
Pros: 1. Verizon works out of the box. 2. Price is very good. With $50 off it's hard to beat the price. 3. Snappy performance. Good experience for most things related to the phone. 4. Super awesome charging! It is mind blowing. 5. Sound quality is OK. At least not bad. Cons: 1. Replacement cord and 120w charger is very expensive. All my other cords failed to reach og cable charging speed. 2. Any and all accessories are only available from China. Weeks to months for cases, cords and charger. 3. No way to select default web browser. You are stuck with Chrome. You can have Canary but no way to select as default do links get pushed to default chrome. 4. 144hz is only available when gaming? At least I have not been able to get it to hit that number. 60, 90 and 120. 5. 120hz is a freaking battery hog. Unlike on a Samsung or oneplus, this phone seems like it's severely underdeveloped and not able to throttle back to save battery. 6. First night I woke up and my lawnchair 2 got corrupted and I had to frantically reconfigure my home screen. Not sure about that but I think it was something to do with a scheduled backup gone wrong. I turned that off and hope for a good night number 2. 7. No support. No xda category for black shark 5. I wrote the support through their website and haven't heard back. ... show more

    • This phone is a monster. It is an elite mobile gaming machine.
Was skeptical at first but could not afford the Asus ROG, SO i took a leap of faith and it was well worth it. I cannot imagine another mobile platform out performing this. Dozens of software mods (Shark Space) to enhance your gaming experience. Xiaomi got it right. I love it
