it’s much nicer than expected. The 10oz is very well balanced. I Almost went with the 16oz but glad I didn’t. This fits the bill absolutely perfectly. Very well balanced. The only change I will make is I’m going to buy a pack of the flat/rectangular style soft leather shoelaces and remove the thin cord that came on this and put a leather strap on.(Hint: leather lace strap knot…when going to tie the knot dampen the knot area before pulling it tight. As it dries it makes for a stronger knot). I feel the leather would just be more comfortable. Wood is Very nicely finished, perfect grip area and solid.. This Darker wood makes it less visual. Again, high quality for an amazing price. The local weapons shows, on the weekends, would sell this for $40+ easily. I’m a 4th degree bb in Shotokan. You don’t necessarily need weight but a little knowledge on how to handle it. Internet videos give great information/courses/lessons for free so……ya know….you know how to test the air in your tires. ... show more

We live in an area where we encounter the occasional loose, aggressive dog and not too long ago a cat which, surprisingly, launched a very determined attack on our friendly Australian Shepherd. This tire thumper works really well for us. It's lightweight, just the right size, and easy to carry. We both have small hands and the grip is secure and the perfect size. We haven't had to use it as of yet, and wouldn't want to hurt an animal, but it's certainly hefty enough to deliver some serious discouragement when needed. I suppose carrying it makes a bit of a statement as it also has a deterrent effect on the odd sketchy human, as does aforesaid friendly Aussie who becomes truly frightening when he goes into protective mode. I gave it only 4 stars for durability, because although the bat itself seems indestructible (and is a good looking piece of wood), the wrist loop broke after only a couple weeks. We fixed it by tying the ends together and using glue on the knot. This bat is a welcome companion on our walks. ... show more

This is my third tire thumper. You really can't miss a low/flat tire on a set of tires. Literally a thud to a thump. I'm a thumper, every hook and drop. This is a tool, but it also works well deflecting whatever.. It's always good to have a nice finished piece of hardwood with you. The grip is nice as well, even when wet. The price is higher then the run of the mill tire thumper available at a local truck center, however the finished product is nicely done too. ... show more
