WOW...AMAZING...I TRIED SO MANY THINGS TO REMOVE THE SMELL OVER A WEEK SPAN AND NOTHING WORKED THAT WELL UNTIL THIS. I USED A SPRAY BOTTLE OVER A THREE DAY COURSE ON A DRESSER FROM THE 1800S AND WOW...AWESOME. I KNEW FROM THE FIRST DAY THAT IT WOULD BE REMOVED AS SO MUCH WENT AWAY.

We bought a used OXO 9-cup coffee maker off of an unnamed web site for a discount and it arrived in working, if very dirty, condition. The previous owner appears to have been running brewed coffee through the machine to warm up old, cold coffee, resulting in coffee scale being deposited on the resevoir walls, in the heating chamber and the riser tube going up to the spray head. Regular coffee machine cleaners did an alright job on the coffee scale, but the clear riser tube inside the clear reservoir, where you should be abe to see the hot water being sent up to the nozzle head above the coffee grounds, was an opaque sandy tan column of water hardness and coffee. The tube is sealed off and impossible to physically clean. The full strength 6% vinegar blasted it out in the first application and left it sparkling clean. The filter caught the sand-like particles for easy disposal. After three cleaning cycles with clear water we brewed 9 cups of coffee and there was no vinegar smell or taste. Just better coffee.
