This was a very nice unit for my fireplace. I have an older home with an older fireplace and it looks really good in it. It works well. I’m giving this a five star because when I received it the remote was busted up. I contacted customer service because I didn’t want to return the whole insert. I just wanted a new remote. They followed through and pulled it from a warehouse and sent me just a remote in a very timely manner. I didn’t think they would come through on it but they did . This is a lovely element. It is relatively quiet. The remote works perfectly and you can easily see the read out. My octogenarian mother operates this in her home on her own. She no longer trusts herself to have a real fire in the fire place (whew! Thanks, mom!!! Safety at ALL levels!!), but she wants the heat from a fire place and also the ambiance a fire place provides. This gives her all of those things. You don't have to be a Senior to like nor use this item. It is great for an insert to a working and functional fireplace or where ever you want the look and feel of a fire place. This hasn't impacted nor increased the electric bill for the 35 year old property in which we use it. ... show more

This heater is adorable. I got it for my camper and it's great for heating small spaces. It also doesn't take up much space. Flames are great. My only complaint is the noise level...at night when it's quiet and I'm laying there awake, like I do most nights, I can hear a repetitive noise. I took the top off and discovered the noise is the rotating mechanism that makes the realistic flame movement. It does have superior flames than another brand I have for home and I guess that's the payoff. Maybeb I'll try some wd40. Good purchase and I'm happy with it. ... show more
