This made sharing my blade very easy and went quicker than freehand sharpening for me. I’m just cutting my yard so I don’t get enough practice to be very proficient at freehand sharpening. This is a top quality blade sharpner that will last a lifetime. I couldent be more happy with my purchase. The materials and build quality are impeccable. A few years ago I bought one of thoose $60 made in China knock off sharpeners. It was of poor quality and only lasted 2 years before one of the bolts snaped not to mention the bending support. The material was low quality and fit and finish poor. It looked great in the photo but the actual item was poor quality. So I decided to go for quality this time and the difference is like day and night. It is like comparing a Ferrari to a Yugo. Don't waste your money on the $60 junk sharpners since it will cost you more money in the long run. Not to mention frustration. ... show more

    • Pricey, but Worth It
This tool works very well and is worth the high cost if you have lots of mower blades to sharpen. I've not found a better jig for getting mower blades of all kinds keenly sharp with excellent consistency.

I usually don't get excited over tools, but this one is fantastic. I was on the fence about spending the $260.00 bucks, but worth EVERY PENNY. I have three sets of blades, two sets for grass and one set I use in the fall for leaves (high lift mulching blades). Once you mount and set this tool up, it's incredible. I was going to buy the Chinese-made knock-off, but don't, support the American company and BUY THIS item. I use a Dewalt angle grinder with a 60 grit flap disk. If you are a commercial lawn care company, I don't know why you don't have several of these; as a homeowner with a commercial series Scag mower with a 61-in deck, I don't know how I made it this long before buying this tool. ... show more

Works as advertised after some experimenting with mounting arrangement. Seemed awkward at first but soon had it working very well - gives a very precise edge on the blade. I would recommend a flapper wheel for grinding instead of a hard stone. Should work well on almost any kind of blade that fits in the holder. ... show more

This sharpener is awesome. Works great, came totally assembled unlike the knock off. Works 100x better and does the job. Wish I wouldn't have wasted time trying to save a few bucks. To say this tooling is well thought out would be an understatement. Possibly the best point for me is its compactness and ease of storage. Lag it to a scrap of 4x4 and it mounts in your vise when needed. Drill a hole in the back and hang it on a nail out of the way when not in use. Very easy to use. Video reviews taught me that 40-60 grit flap discs are effective and forgiving. Perhaps the bench mounted stone type blade sharpeners are a better choice for a professional, but I think they gouge blades quickly in the hands of a person in training. The All American Sharpener puts a sweet edge on a blade plenty quick enough for me. Because it’s easy to closely observe the area being worked, it is effective in cleaning up past damage as well. ... show more
