They don’t recommend using this heater while it's laying down on a surface but rather require it be mounted on a wall, with it being at least 7 feet above the ground. I did test the unit while it was seated on the counter, since I only had it running for a few minutes. The only assembly required for this product is for the mounting bracket system. I could not clearly understand the directions in which to put the bracket parts together. Instead, I just kept fiddling around with the two part bracket system, until their assembly made some kind of sense. The manual definitely needs to be improved or they need to provide a simpler mounting system. The heater came with a remote control but most of the functionality can be performed on the left side panel. I was so relieved to find out that I didn’t need to use the remote in order to turn on the device and to adjust the power level. I already have way too many remotes of which I need to keep track. I chose this heater since it's rated for 120V and that's the only voltage I have wired in the garage. Testing the heater at it's lowest section I could feel the warmth at about 3 feet away. It's very convenient to be able to just turn on a heater in the garage, rather than having to set up my propane heater where I'd have to connect the propane tank, fire up the heater, then crack open the side door a little to deal with the possibility of accumulating fumes. With this product, one switch turns it on and another switch adjusts the power level. What a great product. Can't wait to try it out during the Winter time. ... show more

    • Directly Heats Yourself and Not Air Around It.
This heater is very good at keeping you warm. I've never used one of these before as it has always been propane or ceramic heaters. This one does work immediately and effectively warms you up fast. Pros: -Immediate warmth. Other heaters that heat the air take time to work unless you have it blowing right on top of you and then it starts moving upwards and away. As soon as you turn this heater on, it will begin warming you up directly. -Safe. Though it can heat up certain things that absorb infrared light (you included), this light is noted to be safe for long-term exposure (looked it up to make sure). The housing heats up but, as long as you don't directly touch the front or have anything within 2ft of it, you shouldn't have to worry about something burning. -Definite effective range about 7-8ft. <I was able to notice a difference at a limit of about 8ft; very partial increase in temp on the skin, but noticeable. In other temps/climates, it may be further or closer though. Cons: -It is not designed to warm an entire room. Main thing to note (and as it is described), this is only for direct and immediate heating of one location. If you use this in a room or outside, it needs to be where you will be sitting/standing. -Its range is a bit limited... if 8ft is too short a distance for you. From 2-4ft on max setting I could definitely feel the heat. 4-8 it started dropping off steadily. If you sat in front of it long enough or if temperatures were colder, it might make a more noticeable difference at longer range. -1 year warrantee... <I'd pick up a protection plan for more assurance that I'd get more winters out of it. Overall, I can't complain as it definitely does the job and is going to be put to use this winter. ... show more

It’s getting chilly and the firepit in my gazebo isn’t enough to keep me warm. This is great for the cold months! It comes with all the hardware for mounting into wood or stucco and has a remote. Installation was simple. I just made a mount for it because I didn’t want it to be permanent. This way I can reposition the entire thing and aim it differently. It isn’t super heavy, so it won’t be bringing down the roof. I had to route the cable along the beam and along the side of the gazebo to the power source. The remote has on/off, and 3 different power levels and then a timer. The remote requires 2 aaa batteries which don’t come supplied, so buy some! As far as heating goes, the temperature at night has been about 60’s. This kept me nice and warm and without the need for a sweater. It heats up rather quickly and keeps me warm under my gazebo at night! ... show more

    • Perfect for my shed
Basically plug and play. Hangs up easy and puts out a decent amount of heat especially in a close space. I bought this for my shed so that I could work outside in the winter, and not have to make a mess in my garage. I put a couple of hooks up on the ceiling, secured it and plugged it in. Pros: + Ready to go right out of the box + pretty light weight, and construction seems to be pretty solid + heats up very quickly, and when you turn it off, it cools down pretty quick + my shed is about 20 x 20 in the area I work and it’s probably closer to 10 x 10 and just testing this out the entire shed was definitely warmer , but it was the hottest under my work area, which is exactly what I wanted. If i extend my work area I may get a second one. + I was able to run power tools and the heater on a 30 amp breaker. + I am not having to move a propane heater around my shed, and I feel this is safer anyway. I really didn’t have any cons. I think this is exactly what I needed, and pretty excited about it getting cooler and continuing my projects without making a mess in my garage. 100% would recommend for anyone that wants to put it inside of a shed, or workshop. ... show more
