  • Too big
It’s a very nice unit, but it is much bigger than it looks in the picture, it’s huge. Not small, like it says in the description.

  • I gave away my 3,500 Sportsman Dual Fuel Inverter Generator and bought this. Why?
I gave away my 3,500 Sportsman Dual Fuel Inverter Generator and bought this. Why? NOTE: This review is for Dual-Fuel Version from Big Box Orange Store I am a real fan of the Sportsman Dual Fuel Inverter Generators. Lots of Bank for the Buck,. quote, reliable...then I came across this A-iPower 3,800 Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator. I bought one and then a few days later, another. Why? I gave my Sportsman 3,500 Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator to my Daughter. The a-iPower is about a third kore expensive than the Sportsman 3,500 unit but I prefer the iPower because: very slightly more power than the Sportsman, has a push put-on electric start as well as a key fob remote start, has a handle oil access door, has a "data center" with out meter and digital readouts of voltage, frequency (as in 60 Hz) etc. Also, it has a handle and wheels so you can easily move it like luggage with a handle and wheels. It arrived well packed. I used a box knife to open one end, the end with the handle, after removing the styrofoam, I pulled it out out of the box. It came with oil funnel etc, even a bottle of oil, but I prefer Mobile One 10W30 for my generators. I added 20.2 ounces of MobileOne, connected the battery, attached the propane, turned the power switch to "on", pressed the PROPANE rocker switch to select Propane as the fuel, turned the "low idle" off and pressed urge start button for 3 seconds. BOOM, it fired right up and quietly at that. It is truly very quiet for this size generator. Maybe because it is said that it has a Yamaha engine. I ran it for 24 hours on a 20 pound bottle of propane with no load, to break it in. Then changed the oil again. This generator can be parallel connected to another for the sum of the power of the two. I strongly recommend only using propane as the fuel. Why? When I used gas in a generator, it always overflowed, stunk everything, like me, up, can't be stored for long period of time, is dangerous to have in your garage and is a stinking hassle to refuel from. Propane burns much cleaner (for the air and generator life), can be attached or changed in seconds, is available in large tanks permanently installed at your site, as well as in portable tanks. I have several 20 pound tanks, a 40 pound tank and two 100 pound tanks. Depending on the load you put on it, this can run just about a week on a 100 pound propane bottle if you use the power saver/low idle switch. which adjusts the speed on the generator to match the load, low load, low speed, saving fuel. I have run my Sportsman generators 6 days straight a couple of times during big storms when power was out, only stopping for propane changes. No issues, and I expect the same with this iPower. Follow my advice re break-in. Don't wait until you need it to break it in. Use a good oil like Mobile One. I also recommend a GENTent so you can run it without concern in rain and snow. PS: Please consider getting a portable Carbon Monoxide detector. I don't mean like you put on the ceiling of your home. I mean a pocket sized unit that gives you a digital readout of the actual CO around you and has an alarm. I learned this from experience. Keep the generator 20 feet from your come and with the exhaust pointed away from you. Don't put it in a garage, even if you open the garage doors. "trust me" on this advice ! ... show more
