  • Good drive except for Wakeup from Sleep detection issue - [RETURNED]
Color: Grey Capacity: 128 GB
This drive was purchased specifically for daily Time Machine backups to run in the background on a 13" MacBook Pro Retina. However, the drive had to be returned due to the issue that has been pointed out in several reviews on Amazon - the wakeup from sleep recognition problem. Likes: *Form fits well enough. It does slightly protrude but it's enough to allow fingernail access but without sticking out too far. *Fits snugly in the slot but not so much it's difficult to remove. *Reasonably fast though I never benchmarked the throughput (adequate for T/M). Others have in different reviews so look for those if you're interested. *Priced very well as a reasonably fast 128GB microSD card. Add the fact that the SDXC slot caddy is builtin, this drive is an outright bargain. Dislikes: *Transcend Jet Tools - it's sloppy, dysfunctional to operate/configure, leaves footprints in strange places in your file structure after uninstall, and does not fix the primary issue with the drive, which is: *Drive does not consistently mount after wakeup from sleep. It can be manually mounted but that sort of defeats the purpose of the "add it and forget about it" concept. Please note that I formatted the JetDrive with a Journaled and Encrypted Mac partition but that should have no effect on the detection upon wakeup. I have other SD cards that work in the same slot that do not have this issue. I really wanted this drive to work for its intended purpose (T/M backups) and if I simply wanted additional storage, I like it well enough that I'd probably have kept it. Time to try one of the other MiniDrive solutions... ... show more

  • Works well for what it is
Color: Grey Capacity: 512GB
I use it to store my 300 GB of movies and the TV app accesses it easily and without issues. I do notice that if Time Machine is backing it up while it is also being accessed with the TV app, it skips frames while playing the movie. Also, when I first put it in the laptop it did not show up until I restated the MBP. But it has stayed connected since. I have the 2021 16" MBP. ... show more

  • Easily and unobtrusively expand "onboard" storage of your PC/Mac
Color: Grey Capacity: 1TB
Affordable and easily installed additional Drive storage for your PC/Mac. Fits flush into an SD Card slot so you donʻt even know itʻs there. No more external drive hanging off a cable and USB port. READ/WRITE performance is very fast (but at SD Card speeds so not as fast as a true SSD but suitable to use in almost any application) and no additional drivers or modifications to install. You slide this into the SD Card slot and voila, you have an additional 256GB -or- 512GB -or- 1TB (depending on which model/capacity you purchase) at your disposal as an "external" drive that is always there. I've had a 256KB card for over 5 years with no problems... Now that I have the 1TB version, itʻs so great and I use it as my "scratch/caching" drive for my video editing programs with no problem. Be sure to buy the correct model for your specific PC/Mac as the SD Card slot depth varies and you want one that fits flush when installed. ... show more

  • Works as expected and without failure. You MUST make sure you use the guide to get the right size.
Color: Grey Capacity: 256GB
I've been using mine non-stop in my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) for 2 1/2 months now. It fits flush with the side, so I never have to worry about it getting bumped and ruined. There have been times when it seems to have 'ejected unexpectedly' but not often and could just be the Mac. It always seems to show up again, so I have not had to take it out and reinsert it (or remount it in Disk Utilities). It can be a little difficult to eject, but has little flanges that you can use your fingernails into to begin to work it out. But this is the intended design - you do not want it to come out without some effort involved! You need to be sure to use the guide pictured in their description for Choosing the Right Expansion Card. Otherwise, you could end up with one that is too short for your model Mac and it will not mount or connect with the connectors; or it could be too large and hang out, which could be ok, but you risk failure if it gets bumped, or ejects unexpectedly. You can find your model of Mac by going to the black arrow in upper left corner and then selecting About This Mac. It will be the line under your Version number and has the size and year in parenthesis. All of that information is important in finding which Transcend to buy. I use mine for my Photos library, and I make sure I back it up separately from the rest of my Mac, because my backup drive isn't large enough to do both the computer and the card. ... show more

  • Great for Logic/MainStage sound library, etc...
Color: Grey Capacity: 256GB
I have a 2014 rMBP with a 128GB SSD. It's still a great little machine, but it's hard not to fill up. 256GBG was just what I needed. I moved the entire Logic Pro X sound library and a few larger apps over to the JetDrive and voilà, I get a little over a third of my main disk back! I have not encountered any issues with un-mounting waking from sleep. I have had my eye on one of these for a few years and they've just continued to get cheaper and storage capacity keeps growing. So I bit the bullet, and I'm glad I did. I use MainStage live and now I don't have to live in constant terror an external hard drive getting dropped/lost/snagged. This thing is insert, utilize, forget about, never remove, so yeah, get one. ... show more

  • Difficult to remove. Not convenient
Color: Grey Capacity: 512GB
Although it is cheaper $90 for 512gb than the apple ssd, I’m going to have to recommend you get the apple ssd. Not only is it going to be almost double the speed, I regret because I write to my apple ssd a lot and so far I’ve been fomo because this mbp could have lasted longer if I got a larger capacity ssd. Lesson learned: buy one step up for ssd from apple 4tb on my next MacBook Pro That being said. If you don’t use your SD card slot at all, why not? I use it to store movies and music, though watching 4K From it can cause delays ... show more
