So I ordered the men's because they have been out of the women's forever now and I did not want to wait. They are exactly the same as the women's I ordered an 8.5 in men's and am a 10. This is my second pair of these boots and I had my first pair for 2 years. These boots are so comfortable and they are lightweight, as a bonus, they also look pretty great on the feet and the best part is that unlike most, these have a side zipper so no more tying laces. Also they are super quiet, I am a LEO and I don't always want to be heard when I'm coming up so these are perfect. 5.11 you never fail to impress, these are worth every penny, my feet thank you. Update: So it's been 2 years and these boots are still going strong. Minus some creasing that is to be expected and wear on the sole, they still look brand new. Originally I got these for work but I wear them to everything. I have done 16 hour shifts with them and have spent an entire day at an outdoor range with unstable terrain and my feet barely feel it. I've also gone hiking in the Smoky Mountains with these. I had to be talked out of going to Disney in them because my boyfriend said it was tacky but that's just how comfortable they are. I came back to buy another pair because the insole is not as comfy and cushioned anymore but I will use this pair for the range and other outdoor activities and the new pair for work. They are pricey but they are worth every penny and will last you a really long time. ... show more

Comfort of the 5.11 is outstanding. It feels like the support is a good blend of strength and flexibility, too. I'm a 6', 220 pound guy, but I'm 60 years old, not chasing or fighting anybody anymore (retired cop), so I wasn't looking for real work boot. These days, I usually wear tennis shoes (even fairly loose), but occasionally I want more support. These are a little more snug than I am used to, but they're boots, not tennis shoes, so that's on me. Compared to my old Bates USMC desert boots, these have a lot more padding around the ankle, and they're more flexible in the footbed. The shorter height is a bonus in my opinion, as is the padding, though it's still cold out, so I don't know if they'll be a bit warm in the summer. I loved the zipper CONCEPT. You know; lace the boots normally, then just use the zipper to get in and out of the boots.... It doesn't work that way. There's not enough "spare" material around the zipper zone to open the boot and slide in and out. So you end up zipping AND lacing the boots, which is just an extra step, instead of a convenience. The boots feel slightly more snug than I'd expected in this size, but again, it's been a while since I wore boots, so I think this is probably a normal fit, and the footbed / arch / toebox is perfectly sized for what I expected. I like that the boots are a bit flexible in the midsole. It feels like they're already broken in. If you like thick socks, I'm guessing you might want to order a half size up. They're a little bit darker than I expected, but still very nice looking. The sole material is a nice mix of tough but not so hard that it "clacks" when you walk. They're a little heavier than the Rocky work boots I used to love so much, but also softer and less "military" looking, so that's really what I'm after now. ... show more

I bought this pair of boots after literally wearing all the tread off of a different pair of 5.11 boots (exact pair but 8in instead of 6). I wore these boots in a fast food setting for almost a year and they have held up spectacularly, they are comfortable, sturdy and still to this day non-slip. I recently took up a new job in asset protection and I walk around almost 5-6 hours a day, and I stopped wearing tennis shoes in favor of these year old boots. I find them much better and more comfortable to walk around in. I am planning on buying another 3rd pair of these just to have a backup, because I am a huge fan. ... show more

I find the fit to be narrow. In Redwing and Wolverine boots I wear standard width but these are tight across the arch and toe area even fully unlaced. I think a couple days on the stretcher will make them more comfortable. If in doubt I suggest getting the wide size. Had I ordered the wide I think comfort would be 5 star. Happy with the looks and perceived quality of manufacturing. Update: after 24 hours with shoe stretcher inside they fit much more comfortably. Upgrade to 5 star. ... show more

I've had 4 or 5 pair of the desert coyote 6" Side Zip boots, some ordered from Amazon and the most recent pair ordered directly from the 5.11 website as my size wasn't available by them on Amazon (which by itself begs a few questions. So I posted a review on their website, which they chose not to publish, apparently they do not care about facts or low ratings in their marketing strategy. So here is my recent review posted here. The former desert coyote 6" Side Zip boots have been my favorite and everyday wear boots for years. The Coyote brown was a nice dark color, hence the name, with a sort of lush textured feel to them that set them apart from all of the look alike tan boots. The exterior had contrasting colors and textures with very durable materials. My only minor issue then was the very small pull loop on the back of the boot, only big enough for kid sized fingers. The most recent pair, purchased in May 2024, was obviously different than all of the former boots I had purchased. I am not saying the new boots are bad, just different as compared to the previous versions and different in color and texture as shown in the existing photos on 5.11 and here on Amazon. The new boots are lighter in color, a basic tan without the texture of the former boots. They do darken a little with use, but still different. It strikes me that maybe they changed manufacturing of the boots so some other place than before. The durability is too soon to measure as compared to the previous boots, time will tell. But out of the box, they look much like the many other similar boots and not the Coyote brown. Ordering through Amazon is best because my order direct from 5.11 took nearly two weeks to receive the new boots. ... show more
