I've tried out a LOT of paddles in the beginner/intermediate range. This felt like a solid paddle that didn't really wow me in any particular way, but it also didn't have an glaring issues. It is a carbon fiber face but not raw carbon fiber, so I was surprised that the texture worked as well as it did. I was about to generate a decent amount of spin off of this paddle. If this paddle provided leaned in any direction, I'd say it offer a bit more control. The ball didn't exactly pop off of this paddle as much as others I'm used to playing with. I found myself having to adjust my dink game and give it a little more assist to get it just over the net. That said, this will likely be a benefit to a lot of low-to-intermediate level players who find themselves popping balls too high in a dink rally. I feel neutral about this paddle. It seems priced fairly in the $50 - $70 zone, but as is typical for paddles in this range, I'd generally argue you're better off spending a little more for a paddle with more to offer. Because of this, and because this paddle is not USPA approved, I'm docking a star. ... show more

My husband and I are brand new to pickleball. We set up a court in our large pole barn and started playing very frequently. We got 4 different paddles for comparison. Our friends have joined us over the past couple of weeks, and they offered their feedback too - also as brand new newbies! We know nothing about Pickleball, except that it is fun, and that we have found ourselves having a preference for which paddle we choose. Our discovery on the best features in this Passion Pulse paddle are as follows: - This paddle is more solid than some of the other paddles. The effect of this is that it feels heavier in our hands. Just starting out, the girls seem to like the lightest feeling ones and the boys seem to like the heavier feeling ones. I wouldn’t hand this one to a younger kid to use. - The material on the face of this is not smooth like the others. I like the grip, but as a newbie, I don’t yet notice the difference in my play from this. - The quality is excellent, and it is holding up strong, whereas some of the other paddles are already showing some light wear issues. Our overall thoughts on this one are that it is probably an excellent paddle for someone that has been playing for more than just a few weeks. Its excellence is probably lost on us at this point. If a friend was considering trying pickleball and asked me which paddle they should get, I would recommend a much less expensive one, and suggest upgrading to something like this a little later on. ... show more

I'm just a beginner and don't know much, but compared to another paddle I have, this felt a little heavier. This is slightly narrower than the other paddle, and I felt the sweet spot may be slightly smaller. The grip felt comfortable. The color is cute. The textured surface is good.
