This digital alarm clock is perfect for my bedroom. It has a large display with easy-to-read digits. The brightness can be set in several stages from OFF, and very dim through very bright. I set it at very dim, so the light does not keep me from falling asleep. The alarm sound is a simple beep. It has two volume settings with soft providing a gentle but effective wake for me. If you don't turn it off or snooze it, it will beep more rigorously. I imagine it would even wake a heavy sleeper if used in the loud volume setting. If you lose power, of course the display will not remain on and the alarm itself will not work. However, it will retain its memory and keep the internal clock running until the power is restored. ... show more

This alarm clock works well. There is not a battery back up. The only thing I don’t like so well are the buttons. They aren’t as straight forward as my previous alarm clock. I have to actually pick up this alarm clock to turn it off. On the plus side - the brightness of the light (the numbers) can be changed. It was gaining a minute a day. I fixed it every week. Wrote the initial review at 3 stars and the vendor contacted me with a fix. There is a reset button on the back that can be pressed with the end of a paperclip. It worked! Now keeping proper time! I like large blue numbers for seeing the time at night. With my Echo Show no longer able to act as a clock (some "upgrade" has caused it to display the numerals in white only which happen to blend in with the only available background at night...I just had to turn off the night clock feature), I ordered this since clock for night time viewing. It has multiple levels of brightness, is VERY easy to read, and looks great. It would have been PERFECT if it would have had self-detecting light levels and therefore set its own brightness (bright for daylight, dim for night).
