This stand is really nice. It has a solid weight to it, the pads keep my laptop from getting scratched, and the metal keeps my laptop cooler than simply stacking it on some books. I think it's worth the $30 I paid for it, as I returned another stand that was $10 cheaper but not as solidly built. Two things to know before you buy: 1. The height is NOT adjustable. That was the reason I didn't buy this product first, as I was hoping to get a stand that could be either height adjustable or stand angle adjustable. The current height is fine, but if you're concerned about ergonomics, check the specs and see if the height fits your desk configuration. 2. The base is as big as the stand that holds the laptop. As you can see from my picture, the base is flush up against my mouse pad, which doesn't leave much room on my medium-sized desk. Not a deal breaker (and the laptop stand itself is fantastic in and of itself, so it still gets 5 stars), but something I definitely wasn't excited about. I'd love to see the next version of this stand have a slightly smaller base for more desk space as the ability to raise and/or lower the stand itself to the perfect height. I got this laptop stand to hold my 13" Microsoft Surface Book, and to elevate it so that it is more level with the 27" monitors on either side of it. I love it! The metal is very sleek, strong, and solid, and the construction is firm and durable. It was easy to assemble out of the box, even though I bought it used. The swivel feature is a nice addition and is extremely smooth, even though it is not usually necessary for me application. I highly recommend this item if your setup finds you using a laptop along with external monitor(s) at different height, so that your line of sight can be more consistent from one screen to another. ... show more

Solid, stylish, super-functional design and construction at a very reasonable price!! I order a lot through Amazon, and I've never felt compelled to write a product review before - let alone within minutes of receiving an item and putting it into use. This thing is that cool. The packaging is minimal, and assembly is super quick and easy. There are extra screws and rubber grippy pieces included that I can't imagine ever having to use but that I am grateful were generously included. The stand is very solid and the rotation mechanism is smooth. This thing looks great on my desk. This laptop stand is well built, easy to put together (came with two extra screws) and allows for a full swivel without any shaking or sense of instability. The finish matches well with my MacBook Pro and is consistent with other laminal stands I have previously purchased. 1 star deducted as the overall value is not as good compared to other laminal products I have purchased. $30 for this stand is ok but would have preferred to get the add'l features in the newer version (vented and height adjustable) but couldn't justify the add'l $20 for that (total of $50!). If all the features in the newer version were available at the $30 price point, would be a 5 star for sure. That aside, this is a solid quality product and I am very happy with it as I have been with several other Lamicall products I have purchased (phone stand, gooseneck tablet holder). ... show more

I was so pleased as I pulled this out of the (beautiful) packaging. Very well machined and finished with a rich, substantial feel. It was easy to assemble (extra screws and wrench provided) and is very solid. It sits on my tabletop precisely with no wobble or weird movements, and the swivel action is smooth and precise. The rubber pieces on the bottom (the feet) are substantial, precision cut as are the two strips on the platform where the laptop sits. I love the simplicity of design and how well designed it feels, and I'm enjoying even the way the shadows from the pedestal fall on the base. This is going to clearly hold my MacBook and my behemoth 15" Dell work laptop with no problem at all. I love the open space under the laptop where I will no doubt work up a messy accumulation of detritus. Just can't adequately convey how absolutely pleased I am with the quality and design, and that I found something so cool for such a reasonable price. This could be sold in the Apple store. I'm buying another one right now so I'll have one for work. And I'll be checking out the Lamicall website for other accessories. ... show more

This stand is perfect. Works as described if you seat on the couch, for example, or stand above your desk. I use it when I want to work while sitting on the couch or when I am in the kitchen. So I place it on my lap and it holds my 17" MacPro laptop perfectly when I sit on the couch. And when I put it on the kitchen island - it is just at the right height for me to work on it. No painful bending over any longer! The only thing I wonder is if that is possible to add such functions as changing the height of the stand and the angle of incline. But even without them, this stand works great. I love it! ... show more
