Easy to assemble, for the frames I recommend using a drop of wood glue on the top part and a staple gun. Seems well covered in wax (let’s hope it holds in the FL sun) overall wood seems good quality (no eyes) I like it so much I ordered a second one. Shipping was also fast. Very good for the price.

I bought this hive because it was the cheapest complete hive on amazon and am using it as a visual aid in my bee class's and wasn't expecting much, but boy was I surprised. the fit and finish was very good the wood was very clear on the boxes the bottom board is solid wood not plywood and the inner cover is plywood not press board. The frames are clear pine and went together very nicely and had the grooves and bevels where they should be. all in all this kit is better quality than ones I have paid twice as much for from the big bee company's. the only thing I did to keep the wood from splitting ( this will happen with any bodies box ) was use deck screws that cut their way in so they don't split the wood but you could pilot drill before you install the supplied screws to eliminate any splitting ... show more

Extremely high-quality materials and manufacturing. Easy to assemble yet very secure and solid as well. I am most POSITIVELY IMPRESSED! Can't believe I got this whole setup for the price of any old "nuc" in the classified ads I've seen over the years. I'll be attempting to move a good native hive residing in a wall in the attic and I needed something that has a high probability of adoption and acceptance with room to receive the full colony. This is absolutely PERFECT. I couldn't offer them a better new home than this. The colony is such a good one, and so much natural habitat has been lost around here, that I'd hate to have them abandon the site entirely. It will be a while before I can arrange the rest of the project and do the transfer, but this is a most auspicious beginning and my hopes have raised for it to be successful. ... show more

I like these hives for the money. Requires a little assembly work but pops together in 10 minutes. All wood is be wax coated so the bees like it and it’s durable. Metal roof cover. Fit and finish is good. My bees moved right in and like the hive. Comes with small top section and large bottom section. Comes with queen separator to limit her access to top honey section. I like these hive and will buy more especially if the price drops a little or they go on sale ... show more

the hive was easy to assemble, but there are gaps between the dove tails, which will be filled and sealed by bees over time. The quality of the wood is kind of average, on board broke when was assembling. The whole hive is covered with bee wax, I personally prefer two or three coats of exterior paint for outside of the hive. The inner cover doesn't have a space or gap for air flow, I made a small cut on one of the frames to help for air circulation. I bought anther bee hive from another seller, both packages originally came from China in the same exact box. The reason I bought those rather than making them myself was the cost. the cost of material to built the hive and buy the frames will be more than the cost of the pre maid hive with frames from AMAZON. I live in north of Seattle, and we have long winter here, 7 to 8 months cold weather. I don't trust this hive to be good enough to save the bees during the cold weather, so, I will make sure to make a strong insulation for the hive to protect them during winter. ... show more

Dovetail cuts on one side were reversed and would not fit. Had to cut with jigsaw in order to make it work. No glue was included. Had to predrill frames due to splitting. Should have been done at factory. Cheaper than buying assembled hive and overall looks ok and should last a while. Update** Seller replaced defective part at no charge ,so I am giving them 5 stars for prompt customer service. Since I did not ask for replacement I feel they have done more than expected ... show more
